I've found that Great Ambusher is high enough. It saves a lot of skill grinding all the way to Legendary.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

I'm not sure how one does not get ambusher up to Legendary (and far beyond)...  Mind you, I only use the Travel map for reference, so actively sneaking from one site to the next (unless completely adjacent), and then maybe onto the next, tends to level my newbie characters up quite nicely in that regard.

(In the latest walled town I encountered, I finally found someone to talk to and he's give me one hundred and five quests[1]...  Among which are a number of necromancers, most at the same site.  Once I've cleared out the more accessible local vampires and werebeasts (that doubtless is the cause of this large walled settlement being almost entirely abandoned), I was wondering whether I'd go and have my first go at a Tower. Although I was hoping to sell some of the heavy looted weapons I've dragged from a nearby bandit camp,, first, and see if I can also get some untattered clothes.  Which rather relies on there being a shopkeeper around...)

[1] A few of those are unreportedly completed ones from the region I'd just left, to get to this new riverside area of settlements, admittedly.  But it's an impressive list, nonetheless.

Huh. I use quick travel all the time. Mostly because I'm lazy, and not very stealthy.

If you hold up and down arrows at the same time causes you to move in place up and down very quickly while stealthed
