- I'd leave savescumming on. Your game WILL crash sooner or later.
- Redshirts - there is no reason not to use them.
- Awayteam - you can leave your pilot in the ship so he won't be injured (choose him in the crew screen and press enter, remember to give his equipment to other people)
- I think you only pay wages when arriving to the big stations, small stations (these where you have to walk and where you can find free spacesuits) are free. AFAIK captains gains experience only after arriving at a big station but they require LOTS of XP to level up (the formula was something like random(0-XP)+2 for brain implant > HP^2 + 5(?)
- Training doesn't give you XP, it just uses the formula above to determine whether someone will level up or not. You roll for this everytime you visit a station (probably only the big ones) so you can save some money if the cost of training is lower than the wages.
- I think binoculars work, just not at night
- Grenades are pretty good but IIRC they are a kind of bugged - you can't choose your target, you just throw it at the closest enemy you can see.
- I have no idea how to use the seismograph either.
- Stasis (or was it containment?) fields can hold up to 5 (or was it 10)? aliens.
- You can leave notes on the space map by pressing "C".
- Increasing the wage to 15 made everyone go from
to
morale so I guess it's enough.
- The doctor can heal if he's a member of the awayteam but at low levels the delay is quite big so it's better to just use medpacks - and you figured it out already.
- Stocks. Buy when it's below 90, sell when it's above 110, there is just no way to loose the money.
- Mining robot (you had one in your first run but I guess you didn't notice) - drop it, come back in a billion of years, find the fucker, get some credits.
- If your pilot skill is below 3, the comms sattelites are doomed.
The easiest way to make money is to find an independent colony and just sell illegal stuff there, they never search for contraband (you will most likely make like 1000 cr of profit on every ton of stuff)
