- I'd leave savescumming on. Your game WILL crash sooner or later.
- Redshirts - there is no reason not to use them.
- Awayteam - you can leave your pilot in the ship so he won't be injured (choose him in the crew screen and press enter, remember to give his equipment to other people)
- I think you only pay wages when arriving to the big stations, small stations (these where you have to walk and where you can find free spacesuits) are free. AFAIK captains gains experience only after arriving at a big station but they require LOTS of XP to level up (the formula was something like random(0-XP)+2 for brain implant > HP^2 + 5(?)
- Training doesn't give you XP, it just uses the formula above to determine whether someone will level up or not. You roll for this everytime you visit a station (probably only the big ones) so you can save some money if the cost of training is lower than the wages.
- I think binoculars work, just not at night :P
- Grenades are pretty good but IIRC they are a kind of bugged - you can't choose your target, you just throw it at the closest enemy you can see.
- I have no idea how to use the seismograph either.
- Stasis (or was it containment?) fields can hold up to 5 (or was it 10)? aliens.
- You can leave notes on the space map by pressing "C".
- Increasing the wage to 15 made everyone go from :) to :D morale so I guess it's enough.
- The doctor can heal if he's a member of the awayteam but at low levels the delay is quite big so it's better to just use medpacks - and you figured it out already.
- Stocks. Buy when it's below 90, sell when it's above 110, there is just no way to loose the money.
- Mining robot (you had one in your first run but I guess you didn't notice) - drop it, come back in a billion of years, find the fucker, get some credits.
- If your pilot skill is below 3, the comms sattelites are doomed.

The easiest way to make money is to find an independent colony and just sell illegal stuff there, they never search for contraband (you will most likely make like 1000 cr of profit on every ton of stuff)

Is anyone else getting a problem with his videos where you're watching them and at some point they just suddenly switch to the next one on the playlist? When I turned that off, it started to randomly stop the videos. For example it'd stop at 1:53 when there was an hour of video and act as if there were only 1:53 worth of the video, forcing me to reload until it repeats again. It only happens with his videos too.

I've had that, though I've been unsure whether it's specifically his videos or it's Youtube having issues with auto-change to HD mode, which it tends to do a few minutes into a video, causing a restart of the buffering.

Youtube sometimes acts up like that - not on my videos alone, but them being BIG files, it's more likely.
It's caused by borked cookies / re-directed data transfer / browser memory. In that order of occurrence.

Mech, you didn't request a crew member in Prospector! Outrage! All of you people are requested to do that :O. Over here, if preferred.

I am happy to announce, that Markal is the captain in the newest video. His trusty Scout, "Yeah Buoy", embarks on an epic journey of adventure and exploration!
I am also happy to announce, that Prospector is out of the window, and we're moving onward!

Onward to what? Well, the poll is getting re-set for the third time.
Keep in mind that there are about 80 votes "stored" from the previous two.
I've added Caves of Qud to the poll, as a rogulike that i will no doubt deeply dislike.
Prospector is kept in the poll, to see just how cruel you bastards can really be.

The following video (or two) is going to feature ToME, until the Poll hits some sensitive numbers.

Any chance of having a go at running Incursion: Halls of the Goblin King sometime?

Bay12 other thread for it here, http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=2668.0

Hmm, took a look at Cave of Qud and it looks interesting so i think ill toss my vote in for it. Description reminds me of the early editions of the pen and paper Gamma World games.

Well, you have an epic task ahead of you, Nenjin. You have to convince people to vote for Infraarcana, for i believe most of them never even heard of it. Me included!
Thankfully, you'll not have to worry about instant-death random events.

It may be a bit too late, but i am obligated to warn you : I sometimes curse, swear, bitch and moan. A tiny, insignificant bit. Actually, i think that despite my warning, you might not even notice.

Infraarcana: what's not to love?

-A roguelike set in the Cthulhu universe? Yes please.
-Your mental health being as important to survival as your physical health? Yes please.
-Learn the spells and magic of the Elder Gods, slowly driving yourself insane as you use it? Yes please.
-Develop weird powers as your understanding of the Mythos increases? Yes please.
-Wasting cultists armed with guns and hacking reanimated corpses to death (which have a tendency to rise again)? Oh hells yes please.

Bay12 Thread.

It's addictive in kind of the same way DoomRL is, because every level you earn a skill that really, really helps you out. And there are a lot of skills, many of which you can't see until you have the right per-requisites.

It's not the best or the most attractive game, but it's overflowing with flavor. Plus, you know, squid-face.

It may be a bit too late, but i am obligated to warn you : I sometimes curse, swear, bitch and moan. A tiny, insignificant bit. Actually, i think that despite my warning, you might not even notice.

He's also possibly a liar :P
