Slenderman!!!!
« on: January 08, 2013, 02:29:06 pm »

Is there anyone who has created a slenderman creature that I can just copy onto my game? Or will I have to start from scratch?

Legend tells of a fort besieged by a dragon. When 79 brave recruits fell to its breath, the last dwarf of the fort took up arms. He sprung from his sickbed and claimed an adamant one sword before he bulrushes the dragon. A clean swipe severs the head. But the dragon claws him in the lower body and burns him alive. As he melts into a pile of booze and fat, I rename him Ronnie James Dio and change his profession to dragonslayer. He will forever be immortalized and worshipped as a dragonslayer God.

PS:Nice double topic post.

Edit:how would it even work?

I'm guessing it would select a victim, then intermittently appear and disappear near their chosen prey whenever they are not in a meeting area, sharing the same happy-face symbol as a dwarf but identifiable by its lack of movement. Failure to spot it and take preventative action results in a dwarf going bye-bye.

...Oh, did you mean stuff that's actually doable in-game with currently-available modding resources? Yeah, I got nothing.

A great human twisted into humanoid form. It has an emaciated appearance and it squirms and fidgets. Beware its bronyism!

Impossible like you said.
How do you even look at things in this game anyway? You already look everywhere in adventure mode/fortress mode.

Bad suggestions are so common these days.

It's very rare someone else is going to adopt your pet modding project, it's like going to your neighbors and saying "I love dogs!!! You should adopt one!".  If your neighbor is from the Bay12 Forums though it's probably more friendly than average and will be happy to watch your dog once in a while.

Then you come back one day and discover that someone made dog meat biscuits out of Fido while you were out drinking. Ideas, though, those are harder to make biscuits from, and thus get better treatment.

I think a Slenderman creature would probably have an interaction to make a dwarf go insane. Of course, the unit listing makes his indetectability a bit moot, but you'd still have a sort-of Slendy.

Generally, when one is conducting an experiment, it is worth noting that the observers went insane, killed each other, and then rose from the dead.
It's like DF inhaled a peanut.

Alternatively you could make them incredibly rare vermin. Vermin teleport around the place rather than moving, although at the moment, you can't mod in creatures that can perform the ghost thing of driving people insane. The only problem would be with cats eating all your slendermen. With some science, you could double-raw the required creatures to "accidentally" generate a slenderman civ, like the croc civs and whatnot of old.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.
