I can't think of anything else to elaborate my question, so yeah, has anyone else ever wondered why DF isn't Open-source?
Does anyone know the reason?

i'll explain it quickly:
it's been discussed a lot, but toady wants to finish this project by himself, and does not accept programming help by others. DF is his personal work, and he wants his own dream to come true.

But let it rest here, before some shady man appears again and makes a huge bloat about it.

On top of the "it's his life's work" deal: If there's forks and other people developing it, there's less incentive to donate to Toady.  It's a totally fair, reasonable, pragmatic decision for him to make.

Why should it be open source?  DF is Toady's baby.

This question should really be on the FAQ. Seems like it's asked every week or so.
