See my issue with the gamestick is thats its even crappier hardware than the Ouya and that controller is so bad and lame, i rather go find my old dreamcast controller or my phat xbox controller than touch that one.

And the Steambox just got confirmed.  Strange times.

I swear I heard the Steambox was confirmed at least a week ago.

So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

I wonder, why exactly does one of the best graphic card producers in the world want to create a gaming console?

I think I'm most interested by an easy way to stream my pc games to the tv. Good bye Xbox (I'll keep the ps3 as a netflix hub/blueray player). Of course, referring to the Nvidia thing, not the steambox, have a comp, don't need a mini yet equally priced comp.

Because gaming consoles use video cards? Maybe?

Quite true.

That makes sense... And now Sony comes to mind with its Playstation that was (at the start) supposed to be a CD-ROM system for one of Nintendo's consoles.

Oh well, at least I hope NVidia will make a good console.

They've certainly got the tech to make it work, and the partnerships. With it being android based, it takes a hell of a lot of pressure off them in the games library field as well.

There's plenty of people that buy a phone for $600-800 just for general "I'm cool" value. Most of them basically use it as an mp3 player, occaisional movie-camera and a phone. Sort of like what my phone does, except with a touchscreen, but with a shitty software keyboard.

I'd be very interested to see how something like this could go if it was based around playing games. There's plenty of power for gameplaying in your average top-of-the-line phone, it's just been the form-factor, controls and focus that holds it back.

Will be watching this with great interest, in case the Ouya sucks balls (I'm pretty sure it will be a fun little thing for the price though. Might be a good thing to develop games on, but for the Nvidia system as your market).

It's a game. Have fun.

Maybe Nvidia is being left out of the next gen of consoles.

Sadly, with the seeming collaspse of the PC market, Nvidia is having to change the focus of its hardware production in order to keep up profits.  But with the ability to stream on computers and the like, it could also have the side-benefit of boosting the PC market once it takes off; when people rush to get acceptable hardware in order to do so with their favorite games.
