Roll to rewrite the dictionary
« on: January 06, 2013, 05:35:52 pm »

You are a master linguomancer, or were, until an unfortunate usage of imprecise language transformed your attempt to get ahead in a competition to a request for a head. Through sheer luck, not only have you maintained the continuity of your consciousness, but the head was that of a young linguomancer's apprentice. Unfortunately, such clever tricks as landed you in your present situation are well beyond his/your capacity. Indeed, the young man was evidently only able to swap the most basic of nouns. Nonetheless, it is a start.

You find yourself in the wilderness, alongside a freshly decapitated corpse. There is dense foliage all around.

You are unfortunately incapable of performing adjectival transfiguration, but you do transform the trees and shrubbery into bushes. All the plants in a small radius around you are now bushes, though fortunately not the grass directly under your feet.

Change the leaves into charcoal. Change the bush into a house.

Turn gravity into gravy
Turn planets into plants

+1, +1, +1, assuming a Suggestion-game-type format.

There is no discernible effect.

Unfortunately, you misspeak and swap word order. All the plants around you have been turned into small planets, and now coat the ground.

You transform your hair to little strips of hares. Not only that, but the effect has mysteriously achieved some sort of magical resonance, and a hare you see nearby now has tiny hares where it once had hair.

You turn the leaves into charcoal, and quite effectively. Indeed, so effectively that there is no sign of any living plantlife for miles around. You have killed the entire forest.

You speak, and the nearest bush transforms into a spectacular mansion, complete with a marble fountain and serving staff.

Change servants to slaves. Change water to drank. Yes that is spelled properly.

You transform the servants. Congratulations on ruining some perfectly happy lives.

Unfortunately, you are not capable of Verbing.

There's no grass left. You turned it all into planets.

You transform the dirt under your feet to stone.

You turn the charcoal into coal. Unfortunately, it was pure coal, and the impurities in the charcoal are forced out, flying off and killing your slaves.

You attempt to turn stone into tar. The fountain briefly turns black and begins oozing, but then returns to its prior form.

Turn Verbs into Nouns.

"Verb" is a noun.

Alas, you are only a novice linguomancer. The manipulation of abstract concepts is far beyond you.
