Full image export of my biggest fortress thus far.
« on: January 05, 2013, 01:06:50 pm »

Hi,

I did a full image export of my fortress and then spent some time zooming, cropping, resizing, uploading, and commenting - so that you can see my full fortress and a bit of its workings.

I also posted this at reddit, (/r/dwarffortress) and here are my comments again from there:

Please note the comments at the bottom of each image, details on each floor.

This is with the Pheobus tileset which I've come to like.

My proud achievements for this fortress are:

*  First sturdy gateway armed with ballista and well capable of sealing off every dwarf and even the farm with little risk.

*  Although my military keeps getting crushed and rebuilt, they have done well at training archery and fighting off all types of goblin hordes and beasts.

*  There is a river just north of the gate, I had the dwarves tunnel to the river from below and created an underwater stream that leads to a well. They loved the well!

*  I found my first magma pit far below and turned it into a magma forge and smelter. This is very useful.

*  We've seen all types of trouble from beautiful beasts to epic monsters in this fortress. I really loved the battles and was astounded by the creativity of everything.

What an awesome game :D

Comments or questions welcome.

Here's a handy link for you for next time.

http://mkv25.net/dfma/

The Dwarf Fortress Map Archive lets you upload your fort and add points of interest as well as lets others comment on it.

Congratulations on building such a big fort! Now it's time to get working on a megaproject. Mist generators, automated goblin magma immersion chambers, a giant bronze hammer 100 z levels tall, your imagination's the only limit.

Thanks for that link!  Someone had also pointed that out on reddit and I just had a look at it, awesome!

I love how so much establishment has come into play for Dwarf Fortress such as a dedicated site for viewing maps :)  I keep getting amazed at how much community and supportive spirit are here for DF.

You're a bit low on the ol' booze there.
Nice fort btw.

Ha! Thanks, you are the second observant person to point that out.  I am glad too, because I would have overlooked it when I start up again, as obviously, I have a tendency to neglect it.

For me that's the biggest challenge, and the reason I haven't played in a while, it is managing all of these different things while being bombarded spontaneously by random creatures.

Anyway, I have plenty of pots and should have a couple of stills ready to go, booze will be stocked up in no time.

Take no chances. I've made the mistake of taking booze for granted too many times.

The things I've seen...
