...the justicars threat makes me wonder why you guys think having an army is useless and a waste of mana. If we start now, using our mana, preferably with some mobile protection from death magic, we won't have to rush to make too little, too late, later. The dreadnoughts and dragons were really expensive, and I don't think we'll have too many for a while. But look how little it cost to get how many Stems we have. While really good troops are good for defense, Maher obviously is still at 'war' with us, and the EoT will be very pissed off. We need defense.

On another note, making Spine Sheep will help our economy, as ivory is worth a lot. Or Mothers, since they're based on mammoths, and we could have them regrow their tusks. Oh, and change one of the blue lens to begin growing valuable spices. Mmmm, spices.

Fire-rum should help the dwarves; and get us some good metals too.

We're a life god, and a god of chaos and change. Let's use our domains.

Hmm...

1) say something like that to Uristiel:

" I have two dragons that need some combat practice. And little army of fungus zombies. And some nice flying bugs. If you plan to counterattack  this green buggers, I could offer some assistance. By the way can your guys quickly craft a quality armor for my dragons? "

2) If he agrees, go to the battle we may do fire from the sky sporadically or when our forces will badly need aid. ( I think dragons and firejackets will do the trick. And don't worry about losing Firejackets... send half of them in battle and hope to have a net gain. And I want to save mana for the tree. And Tiberius should stay home, we need home security)

3) Try to negotiate rights for all prisoners from Uristiel... And convert them. either let them do a smart thing and join our religion or... well. More fungus spawn for us

4) If The dwarf god doesn't agree for a counterattack or we win swiftly , go home and raise the tree. I like the idea to link it with afterlife somehow.

5) Werewolves can wait day or two

6) Our population should prepare for the feast

Rolepgeek NO MOAR troops, please... Our army is good and versatile. Base building, using that army to improve our political standings and solving werewolves problem are more important  than more target for Maher's lightnings

eh, i'll be damned

you guys forgot something

we need a method of transport, a fast one. using it we will be able to bring our goods to marketplaces faster, ergo, our merchants will be out of the village for less and there's less a chance for bandits to attack/less a need for too much of an escort

can we chaos-aided machines with our mana stockpile the hypocrisy, it burns to make this work

Oh, and as for Dwarven food problem... I have one very simple and manafree suggestion

Send some firejackets to nest inside the fortress. Magma and\or furnaces will produce enough heat.

As we are the ones who control Firejackets we may negotiate some terms

1) No trading of fire nectar, firejackets or any products from it, it's our monopoly
2) Receive some kind of license fee for every gallon of fire nectar produced

Else, else firejackets will leave... Or worse. Firejacketplosin is worse than catsplosion

In fact I'd prefer to send 100 firejackets to dwarfs, let Laksus continue what he is doing and offer no more assistance, while we wait till morning  and then start to raise the everburning tree...

Oh, and if we lend 100-150 firejackets to the dwarf god, we may use all that multiplied firejackets to destroy the siege with that cloud few days later... better than direct attack now

In fact, we may even not make that deal permanent and take all  firejackets away after the victory (And I expect to have more of them)
But, IMO, long term agreement is a nice thing, it's a trade without any need to send caravans here

I'd prefer the to keep the firejackets to ourselves, we can use them in battles, but we should only settle them in our own domain.

We shouldn't even send any more forces to the dwarves, Laksus is doing a beautiful job of unconventional warfare. Plus, there is already infighting among the goblins and orks' ranks. All we have to wait and see what happens, if nothing happens just keep apply pressure and eventually supplies will dwindle, the sieger will then retreat. Also, we should remove some barriers from the Justicar, preferably the ones that allow critical or creative thinking.

edit: We should probably ask Urist once the siege break about how to improve our defenses or if their are any holes the enemy can exploit.

The infighting is actually the fungus spawns, I think, mistaken as such by Uristiel. But yeah, Laksus should be enough.

So we did forget about the wounded Justicar...

Great.

I still think we should pay a visit to our old friend Maher.

Maybe apologize for the whole werewolf infestation...

^ I think he won't care that much. Next turn, we should probably pull I am your creator card for the werewolves. Also, pick apart the justicars arguments show him the fallacies, maybe if we can lift up some barrier that prevent critical thinking.

So you want to give a permanent solution of dwarf food problem, (spending mana and getting absolutely nothing in return) but you are against sending firejackets and negotiate some benefits for that?

I see no logic...

Exactly, why firejackets should live only in our domain?  Shouldn't we get happy to spread our creations over world? Yes, there are some economical problems, that's why we need some kind of a deal.

My plan will allow us to have some profits and make dwarfs dependent on us, should they overuse firejackets. We will have a force inside allies army in case for betrayal, and boost economy of the said ally in an easy way. Dwarfs have much unused heat and space for our firejackets.

I don't think I ever suggested a permanent solution to their food problem, it was someone else that brought that up (maybe through misinterpreting the suggestion), having said that I don't mind something permanent but then we need to get something of equal value in return.

The fire jackets are a reason for immigrants to come to us, and it gives us a safe monopoly. but the main reason is to have them as a unique boon to our domain.

I also don't see a reason to build in backstabbing options without even having suspicions of antagonism.

You think human migrants will go to dwarfs? Really?
It's not like I offered to give all firejackets away

Quote
and it gives us a safe monopoly.
That's why license agreement is needed

Nah, we can create something new. And again I doubt that dwarf fortress will get huge influx of immigrants.

That's called politics. It's like plans for Canada-USA war.
Besides we have no guarantees that this god will not wage war against us, for example to get our manarack by force. He is a god of war after all. That's one more reason to not boost him in a way we can't sabotage easily
Don't trust random neighbors.

And I would love to spread firejackets over world later. Why? They are loyal to us. They can live anywhere. And they represent us any being that use them have a chance to become our worshiper.... And the most importantly - Life god should be happy to spread his creation over the world
As for fire nectar monopoly
1) We still be a major producer, due to our nature (especially if we create that tree)
2) We may create subgenus and upgrade some firejackets, making our nectar the best one
3) As a life god we can create new monopolies (like fruits of Youth, from the everburning tree)

And you are too gready for one who want to play a purely benevolent god :)
