We should talk first, put down 10 manna to talk with the Justicar leader.

We don't have any. The best we could is get one of our followers to speak with them. And probably not someone with a boon, since they might mistake it for magic, even though they have boons themselves.

Drat, I hadn't noticed that. I'm awfully worried that these guys will cut down anyone who disagree with them in a self righteous douche-bag way.

if anyone is going to speak for us, I think it should be Tiberius... he can take a punch if the justicars go nasty and We'll keep Laksus hidden behind them and ready to pounce if need be.

Plus one to everything Talvara.

But the Surveyor may have to die.

I also recommended the mining and masons operation so we can build buildings out of stone, and perhaps even retaining walls. If there's a steep hill nearby, we can terrace it out and have more room for crops where originally we would have had none.

As for the Justicars. Tell them that the rfugees have left their nation and that they have no power under your domain. After all, the fact that they have magical abilites that a nation of Order cannot control makes them very much desirable for a god of Chaos.

I don't believe an Avatar of our persona costs any Mana. Speak to them in person. If it does, hover over them and chuckle. Speak the previous words spoken. They shan't intimidate us.

Why? we can just do a fire hex that act if he start to blag about it.

Killing the surveyor is unwise. He may worship another god.
Putting him into a coma would be a great move, however.

Tell them we can't hand over any of our followers but offer them some fire nectar in goodwill and tell them to give their god our regards.  If they act rude send in the fungus things.
Ask about the fee to get they to relax then attack.
We talk to them, and then they call their god.
Their god is not limited by the good sportsmanship rules we've got between us and Maher.
Bam. Our village is now frosted over. Or hit with a ray of death.

Or maybe they do leave. But they'll be back with reinforcements. Their god is now interested in this slog, and we have to fight a much larger domain. Which is, once again, not limited by the good sportsmanship we've got going on with Maher.

The best answer is to kill them before they can do anything. A show of force will just inform them to call their god or flee and come back in greater numbers. And I have no doubt they'd manage to flee.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"Listen carefully," you tell all worshippers. "As abhorant as I find these people and the empire they serve, I do not wish to add to our list of foes if it is at all avoidable. My priest, I would like you to inform them that I will not give up the refugees, but offer some fire-nector as a sign of goodwill to them and their deity."

The Priest nods, straightening his robes nervously. "And if they refuse?"
"Then Azula will reluctantly escort them to the refugees and to pay their fine. By that I mean of course that she and Tiberius will open fire the second they've stepped inside the wall."
Azula nods with a demure smile.
"Laksus, you'll strike from behind with the Fungus Spawn if negotiations fail," you instruct. "If possible, I want them alive. Is there a way to prevent them from using their boons?"

"Tie them up and keep a steady flow of running water over them to ground out any mana they attempt to use," Laksus replied promptly, speaking as if from experience. "Excellent..." you murmur in interest.

The justicar at the head of the group was meanwhile waiting impassively, whilst the woman next to him repeatedly bellows how many seconds remain for their ultimatum with the precision of a clock.
Abruptly, the thorn-vine wall parted and the Priest took a step into the opening.
"Minas Iroh greets you," the Priest said politely. "We would very much like to accomodate your request, but we do not turn our backs on those who have asked for our help." His voice continued to be respectful, yet firm as he spoke. "We can offer you some supplies for the road however, including our village's signature fire-nector. We have no quarrel with your empire, nor your deity."

The justicars stared at him like he had just declared that the sky was green. "That is not what we requested," the Commander of them stated flatly. "And as you have exceeded our time limit, I'm afraid the fines will have doubled."
(1d20 : 4)

The Priest's polite smile slowly faded and he sighed. "Very well," he said wryly. "Azula, show these fine gentlemen to their quarry and give them the silver they desire for their...fines," he instructed, turning and walking away as Azula stepped forward.

You see Laksus grin in anticipation, and began to slowly stalk forward, the horde of Fungus Spawn creeping soundlessly behind him.

"Right this way," Azula said, her eyes lowered submissively and an artificial tremor in her voice.
The Commander regarded her suspiciously and dismounted, as did the rest of them. "Matthews," he snapped, "Chris." Two particularly dim-looking looking justicars followed him towards the opening in the wall, leaving the remaining five justicars outside.

The Commander strode through the opening first, and as his two lackies followed suit the wall snapped shut behind them. "Welcome," Azula said, smiling sweetly, before slamming a gout of flame into the second justicar's face. The justicar collapsed limply to the ground, his skull a smoking ruin, and the Commander bellowed, "Kill them all!"

He drew a heavy claymore and rushed Azula, as did his remaining minion - before thorn-vines wrapped around the third justicar's ankle and dragged him backwards. Sputtering curses, justicar threw out a hand and a rush of chilled air froze the thorn-vines dragging him. The thorn-vines snapped off at the frozen areas, and the justicar collapsed to the ground with a sigh of relief.

A sigh of relief swiftly cut off by Tiberius's enormous metal foot stomping down on his neck.

Outside the wall, the justicars left out there were attempting to cut their way through to reach their commander, with blasts of frost, withering gouts of death, and cleaves of their heavy claymores and maces. One spotted Laksus and the Fungus Spawn at the last moment, and bellowed an alert, right before a knife sailed into his throat.

The justicars immediately turned about-face and formed ranks to meet the onrushing horde of creeping horrors. Claymores rose and fell, slaying a Fungus Spawn with each hit and scattering spores everywhere - but every time a spore landed on a justicar, there was a flash of grey and the spore ceased all activity, still and inert as a stone.

Laksus ducked underneath a claymore swipe and swiped at the justicar with a knife, but the attack clanged off of heavy plate armor. Spitting a curse, he ducked under a second stroke and lashed out with a viciously strong kick, denting the chestplate of the man in front of him and sending the justicar crashing backwards to the ground. He followed the man down, a knife bared and ready to stab into his throat, when twin sudden torrents of frost hit him like the breath of winter itself, freezing Laksus within a solid cube of ice.

Meanwhile, inside the wall Azula attacked furiously, throwing burst after burst of fire and nimbly dodging the Commander's heavy swings. Each blast hit an intangible shield of light-blue a foot from striking the Commander, dousing the fire before it could do more than sear a hair or two. The Commander let out a frustrated growl as another swipe missed, and threw the claymore aside, drawing a one-handed mace. His now-free left hand thrust forward, and a cloud of black death flew at Azula as she tried to leap aside.

A thorn-vine yanked her neatly out of the way, the cloud of death harmlessly blowing by her, and Tiberius sent a livid torrent of flame at the Commander's face.

Outside the wall, the Fungus Spawn were being outmatched, their spores and natural weapons ineffective against the boon-protected and heavily armored justicars. One justicar paced up to Laksus's frozen body, smirking and hefting a heavy two-handed mace to shatter it. He paused as he saw Laksus's eyes move to regard him, and then the ice shattered to splinters as a gigantic furred figure tore out of it, snapping fangs tearing out the justicar's throat before he could react.

As if on cue, the firejackets arrived on the scene, swarming the rigid ranks of justicars from behind and blanketing them in blistering-hot chitin. Compounding that, Laksus leapt back into the fray with a furious snarl, snapping one justicar's neck with a vicious backhand and launching a trio of explosive spines into the exposed eyes of another.

Back inside the wall, even the Commander was being outmatched by Azula and Tiberius attacking together, his frost shield frayed and fading under the combined assault. He managed a glance back at the reminder of his forces, and his eyes widened as he saw only one of his men still standing. As he watched, Laksus leapt forward and smoothly batted the claymore from the remaining foe's hands, shifting back into human form right as his fist swung at the Justicar's helmet, and the man fell to the ground in an unconscious heap.

The Commander's face tightened, and he abruptly turned and sprinted towards the wall, ice neatly forming a ramp in front of his steps as he ran over the twisting mass of thorn-vines. Sprinting for his horse, he mounted it and kicked it into a gallop. Laksus snarled, morphing into beast form to follow, when the Commander threw a grey orb to the ground, which shattered - sending a pulse of pure Order through the air for hundreds of feet around him, slowing down everything to a crawl.

Unhindered by the energy, the Commander rode into the forest, his pursuit moving as if in slow motion. You can't help but wonder how much such an item would cost in mana, and surmise that he had saved such a valuable item for the very worst situation, such as this one, rather than using it in battle and not being able to escape if he was still overmatched.

A minute later, everything resumed it's normal speed, and Laksus skidded to a halt as he saw his quarry had somehow got away. He broke into a bounding sprint nonetheless, to follow, before you quickly tell him, "Laksus, enough." He slowed down, but a snarl bubbled in his throat as he shifted back to human form. "But my Lord," he protested, and you firmly reply, "We have no idea if he has help waiting beyond the forest - and I will not risk losing such a fighter as you to kill one justicar, even that one."

Laksus's hands curled into fists, but he nodded. "How many did we capture alive?" you ask him. "Two," he replied. "Though the second's so badly burned he won't last long - unless he receives healing."

The Fungus Spawn were almost eradicated in the battle, with only three remaining. However, Azula's Fire Skill has increased, as well as Tiberius and Laksus's combat skills.

As the villagers move in to clean up the scene and strip the corpses of useful items, morning comes and you receive 160 mana.

You shift your awareness back to the surveyer and say dryly, "Sorry for the interruption. I believe you were attempting a bit of blackmail when we left off?"
The surveyer glanced at the justicar corpses and swallowed. "Me? No, I was just leaving. I don't remember any manarack here, no sir."

Perhaps it might be best if we sent Laksus after the surveryor and arrange a accident for him? I have no doubt he'll keep his word as long the image of that violence remains in his mind. But after a few days he might start to get forget.

No, we need to work on more defense we need to secure the perimeter of the forest that surrounds the village. We also need to know everything that comes in or out of this perimeter. Plus, we should be working on the plant solider ability to morph their arms into any weapon or shield.

We need to infuse Chaos into the entire area around our village. If someone touches the area, the village is alerted. If we are attacked, the entire chaos infused area can become a wall of flame, it will not hurt our villagers but will burn to a crisp any intruders insufficiently prepared for such a defense. It will also alter spells cast by those unaligned to us to have a random effect, because chaos. Then, we set about making an organized military. We need ground troops, heavy artillery, and air support.

We're not an evil god. and the way that I'd like to interpret chaos is the aspect of freedom from oppression and new experiences.

about the surveyor, I'd very much like to not harm him, we should insist that he stays a while longer and enjoys the sincere hospitality of Minas Iroh.
We're not a cruel god. but we'll do anything to protect and provide for those that put their faith in us. we wouldn't want him to leave with a wrong impression of us.

Defences should be our main priority right now, perhaps we can think of a way to disallow (or make it alot harder) for other gods with hostile intent to work their miracles in our domain. maybe something like an aura emanating from some holy structures... An aura that throws hostile spells into disarray and burns away manna from the air.

lets go ask Krait about these order jockies aswell.

Laskus. Is. Awesome. I'm not sure if he or Tiberius is awesomer, but Laskus does it with panache.

Perhaps it might be best if we sent Laksus after the surveryor and arrange a accident for him? I have no doubt he'll keep his word as long the image of that violence remains in his mind. But after a few days he might start to get forget.
I doubt it. Seeing fungus spawn, someone who kills another with one blast of flame, a werewolf/regenerating monster/etc, and a chaos golem isn't something I'd forget...especially if I'd known the justicars' reputation or noticed how none of them had weapons, or knew that the justicars' powers were well-suited to counter ours.

We could use more fungus spawn.  Lets start infecting enemy villages.

Agreed. And figure out some mining...what does manarack do again?

That idea of a defense system sounds pretty cool, but expensive.

manarack gives mana(worship). Also, we still don't have the plant soldiers' ability to morph their arms into any weapon or shield. Maybe we focus on autonomy on the creatures we created like someone mention earlier the firejacket queen.

First, we need the army to be organized though. We can't just have everything bum rush our enemy. We have foot soldiers, but for all the shit we created we have no heavy artillery and only meager air support (which also happens to be our main supply of income. NOT A GOOD THING).
