We shouldn't overlook(longevity of shadow objects permitting) adding another mask, or costume bits, with our powers.
On the outside: big beefy shadow armor monster swinging around a sword.
Inside: A lady wearing a hoodie, balaclava, sweatpants... etc.
Though, since we apparently want to be a hero, the sword should probably be a mace or club.

If you go with that, let me tell you that you would be hard pressed to see anything out of a helmet, because the shadows produce sort of a haze around itself.

Really all we need is face and fugue hiding so GWG but with the goalie mask(for remembering)

That seems like a design flaw.
How far does the haze extend from the shadow objects?
Anyway, the obvious answer is to place a goalie mask where the front of that helmet is. Bam. Fixed.

Not even an inch, it just exudes a sort of misty-haze around itself when you aren't concentrating.

Okay. I can see how that might be a problem in prolonged fights if we've got a visor on.
Which is why I propose a blank party mask. It's creepy, and we can clasp it around our head with shadows, much more reliable than string, and we can armor the inside of it. Well, except for the eye parts. We might have to put black lenses in there.
Then we put on the armor, and bam. Instant creepy armor getup.
As for heroic name? Eh.. I think it'd be better if we remain silent behind the mask. Lets see what the papers come up with.

Wouldn't that be heavy? We don't have super-strength...
And who needs a deadly weapon when you can suck peoples' souls? When we kill people, that should be our modus operandi. When we don't need to kill people, swords and maces are too deadly anyway.

Really all we need is face and fugue hiding so GWG but with the goalie mask(for remembering)
Wait, why is the goalie mask better?

Agreed. Silence is golden.

Armor isn't that heavy. Really. Okay, maybe that crazy fantasy armor would be(and hence we should probably use realistic armor), but in real life it's actually pretty light. Knights were/are surprisingly nimble. Apparently dudes in plate can even dance techno. But you make a good point of inquiry:
How heavy are shadow objects? As heavy as their real life counterparts? Lighter? Heavier?

Hm. The melee weapons is a good complaint. Not sure if we even have the skill for them. Can our shadow powers do net guns? Or projectile weapons? We shouldn't discard the idea just yet.

We don't know how much time it takes, or how difficult it is to eat a person's soul, and we probably shouldn't be ganking people willy nilly. Though, actively scrubbing ourselves from someone we are fighting's memory is a great idea, if we can do it on the fly. As well as using telepathic(can we change what our voice sounds like when using telepathy?) misdirection.

Other than that, yeah, we're going for cloth stuff, maybe with shadow armor bits or shadow cloth overtop, party mask, and we're going to be silent at all times, unless we really need to speak. Then we use a echo-within-an-echo creepy telepathic voice.

The knights were trained from a young age, for one thing. Also, the weight is as much as you condense it. Your cap is about ten pounds if you concentrate, and your minimum is nearly insubstantial. Guns require propellants, so no. You could make javelins, though.

You decided that maybe you should make a costume. You have spent, at the end of the day, about 35$ on the costume. The end result, though, is less than spectacular until you add some armor. Perfe-okay, its still pretty bad. Alright, that's done, lets find some crimes to stop! Ooookay... well, you could walk around the streets and hope for a crime, or maybe set up some posters. What do you do?

Inventory:

Your costume (Better than nothing, right?)

5$

Sorry for the short update.

Look for some small crimes, until we used to using our powers in combat we could stay away from those who know what they doing.

Seeing as I was arguing against the crazy fantasy armor, not germane.

If our shadow-powers fail us, a taser or something should do the job.

I agree about not killing people indiscriminately, which is why I specifically noted that it should be our prime choice for lethal force.

How common and accepted are supers in this world?

There is about one good and one bad team, with a spattering of a few in every major city, and people are suspicous of most supers that aren't proven to be good or bad, and the good are adored/hated, and the bad are feared/hated.
