I just found a barn with a half destroyed house out in a forest.  Overgrown with trees, with lots of goodies inside including 2 full 30gal drums of clean water.  Obviously some kind of abandoned survivor shelter.

I almost completely looted the place, (only taking one of the gallon drums because I didn't feel like dragging the second one to my car) but while pushing the drum out the door I saw a mound of dirt indicating it had some stuff.  Not one to miss loot I went to go check it out.

It had a locket and a half decayed teddy bear with description indicating it belonged to a child sitting on top of the conspicuously placed mound of dirt.

...I actually teared up a little.

Durnit guys yer not supposed to make me sad when I'm playing as a coke-d up bionic mutant kung-fu god of war.  Stahp.

I found the same thing in an earlier version. The teddy bear was sitting next to the barn with no notes and there was a guy who shot himself inside. I didn't realize the implications until now.

As for cheating, I increased the amount of advantages/disadvantages I can give myself to 25 points and gave myself 2 more starting points. Even with that I'm struggling to survive. I'll try adding the swat armor to my crav maga combo.

Edit: Would adding a custom scenario with mutant abilities count as cheating?

If you want to get mutant abilities and keep it fair, try a Voluntary Mutant start in the Lab Challenge. You *can* get out of there, actually, it's just pretty damn hard.

I don't think I'm That good yet. I tried before, using the wiki's instructions and inevitably died to turrets each time. I should probably try to reach the point in the game where I'm good enough to raid a lab before attempting this.
On this subject, I started clearing the town I'm in. No problem so far.

Find five or so military ID cards (some piles of people, waste storage places and toxic dumps all have one, as do military outposts) and go hit up a bunker.

You may need up to seven, or less, depending on what spawns.

I actually tend to only use 2 to loot the whole place, depending on my gear loadout sometimes only one.

Actually getting into the bunker is the hard part, thick walls and turrets, use the first id to open the main door, letting you in the bunker and removing the ruin your day turrets.

When you are actually in the bunker turn on your flashlight and look at the contents for each vault.  Find the one that has explosives.  If you have an explosive onhand bomb the wall between the vault with the explosives and the adjacent one.  You now have access to the contents in both.  (If you don't have explosives just use a second ID to access the explosives)

Then proceed to use the usually massive stockpiles of BOOM to break your way into every other vault that contains anything you want.  At that point if you find any more bunkers you just need an ID to open the front door.

Hmm. So, how much sense would it make to have some kind of self sustaining robot faction? I'm thinking something pretty crude, which would be mostly limited to being a minor player.
