It's 113 vs 136 turns per attack, looking in one of my saves. So the difference is not that big.

Most spears also get Rapid Strike though. Quarterstaff is cool, but KNIFE SPEAR gets a mid-game upgrade into Steel Spear, which is cool and then into Rapier/Awl Pike in late game. Rapier is by far my favourite weapon. Awesome damage and to-hit and has Parry, Rapid Strike and Precise Strike, And spears take half the amount of time to pull out after getting stuck compared to edged weapons.

Or you could just start with Karate/Krav Maga, punch things and not even bother with all this.

I think of a challenge to my new Cataclysm, and decide it would be fun to a Hobo in the time of the Apocalypse, being either constantly drunk or hallucinating my mother. I start off, make my sheet, save it as a template for later use, and start in a shelter. I say "Hi." to the NPC and walk out. What I see before me is a fucking police blockade.

And a tank drone.

Fuck.

I also stumbled upon a triffid grove, a hulk (who I barely managed to outrun via wreckages) and a group of bio operators just hanging out near a lab.

I got drunk, and fell asleep on a dumpster in the middle of the city bustling with murder. To my own shock, The Hobo is still alive and kicking, being barely scratched.

Solution to Cataclysm == Alcohol.

This.

Taking offensive (preferably balanced) martial art, investing one point into unarmed (dodge recommended) at creation - and enjoying myself in the ruins of the old world. Few characters survive such initial stage, though.

Science is always important. But it needs more flaming cats. Can't we build bridge-based catapults and fling flaming cats at the dust and goo?

It's time for the ATHATH Death Counter to increase once more in celebration for the end of the world.

Hmmm, it seems that something changed and I can no longer use a rock to craft a stone pot/hammer. I know I could before, as long as I had enough rocks.

Has to do with stones now apparently being treated as ammo.

But, as far as I can tell, only in the Vehicles Addition Pack. I thought someone said it'd been fixed, but apparently it's back?

Out of curiosity, what are they ammunition for?

Slings, I would assume. I'm just guessing though; I may be wrong.

Slings use pebbles, which are crafted from rocks, but aren't rocks. And since it's a vehicle addon it'd have to be a mounted weapon right?

There is a rock bow now...

Oh, also, slings can fire ball bearings, marbles and (I think) BBs.
