Tip: Removing utterly destroyed guns from vehicles gives you a full health one.

Atleast, it does on pre-spawned APCs.

I got my last character killed trying to kite a riot bot through a molotov.

I accidentally stepped in the fire <_<

If you can find a gasmask, riot bots are 100% harmless.  Attacking them will hurt you, but their only attack my default is to spray gas and try to handcuff you.  You can stand there and throw the same rock at it 20 times without problem.  Getting a gas mask is one of the most OP things you can do.

Upgrading it to the survivor mask is also nice.

Also, is there any way to turn on hordes/NPCs after worldgen?

I'm trying the Hardened Survivor start but I keep getting killed when things attack my face. The winter survivor gear usually takes all the damage from most zombies attacking anywhere else - at least until shocker brutes or the like show up. I had a ballistic mask I found in a military squad spawn but a zombie soldier shattered it in one hit somehow. Also staying up the entire night because my face is too cold to let me sleep in the woods. Are scarves the only warm facewear you can find?

Scarves and bandanas, mainly.  Try sinking a few points into dodge?  Also you can use plastic chunks and soldering iron to reinforce balistics masks, which make them survive more damage AND increases the armor value.

I believe you can craft balaclavas as well.

And with some Electronics, Thermal Balaclavas. That's almost guaranteed to keep you warm.

Yea you can make balaclavas pretty soon - survival 1 + tailoring 2 I think.  So make bindles/slings 'til survival 1, bandanas then arm warmers to get to tailor 2, and then you can make the balaclava and cotton hat to keep yo head warm...

Just learnt that reaching animal mutation thresh hold's causes tank drones to ignore you unless you get close.

Of course I might be wrong and they ignore you if your physically mutated but I wouldn't count on it.

Might be a bit of both.  Same reason they don't shoot at animals and zombies.

Only if you're heavily mutated, it seems. My just-reached threshold didn't help against drone... For now.

Nope.
Transfer char to a new world? It seems you can set new options in that case if you delete the .txt file keeping them in the process.
