Better than half the crazy shit you see come out of labs.

That said, those guns are nasty. Debug one in and test them out for yourself.

No. The only light I bring anywhere is the aforementioned night vision goggles.

No. A square can't spawn metal wreckage and mines both. Plus I was standing still putting on night vision goggles.

Well I'm buggered if I know unless there's rocket turrets or tanks with infrared vision.

.50BMG turret is one of the roadblock possibilities.  I'm wondering if the NVGs somehow interacted with it; may take a look.

Update: checked (borrowed a handy sewer) and the goggles did nothing.  If there was a lightning storm, that might have done it.  Otherwise, possibly some other freak lighting.  What you're describing sounds like a fairly freak occurrence.

In any event, latest experimental would have given you a laser-lock warning had the turret targeted you (you have one turn to save your ass, use it well).  It also seriously downtunes tank drones' use of their main cannon, which I designed more to kill smug vehicle-users and tweaked more to that use at the same time.

Just what gun do tank drones use?  And is a player capable of obtaining one without cheating?

So, I just got this recently, and have played a little bit. I have looked on the wiki, but if anyone has advice they would like to share, please do. (unless it has major spoilers)

I also just generated a world called Sanatorium.

Edit: Is there any way to handle a zombie soldier at the start of the game? I had one spawn pretty much right outside the shelter when I began, and none of my attacks seem to be doing anything.

Okay fine, maybe I'm too lazy to find something to put here.

From now on should we just direct people who ask for starting advice to the advice and help sections of the cataclysm wiki? So many people ask and there have been so many thesis length answers. It'd be faster and less cluttering to just point them there.

The OP really needs some good stuff and less defensive stuff. Links to the item browser and wiki come to mind. Also the experimentals which are largely stable and save compatible.

TL;DR how to start - Martial Artist, Krav Maga, several points in Dodge and Unarmed and Melee, try to stay at zero encumberance.  It'll work really well for a conservative early game, though the usefulness falls off later game, but you'll be dead by then and hopefully pick up the 'flow of the game' so you can build something else next time.

Sadly GlyphGryph seems basically done with the Bay12 forums (or at least that's what he said when I asked him on the C:DDA ones). If we want to update the OP it means we're gonna have to switch threads. (Or maybe get Toady to change the OP authorship? I don't know if that's possible).

As for zombie soldiers, if you have a melee weapon that can do any damage at all then the process is exactly the same as with normal zombies, albeit it takes longer, lure onto a slowing terrain spot, hit them, then back away before they can hit you. Rinse and repeat. Elsewise run away until you can find something that can damage them, you are faster.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

How much can a holster carry?  Apparently adding mods put my gun over-limit, but I'm not sure of the limit.

A holster has a maximum volume of 5, an ankle holster has 3.

Is 2mil a specific number, anything particular about it?
Also, any easier way to fill cards now?  I remember having to manually transfer every card to another, which was a pain...

Hello, it's been near to half a year i have not played (probably march) , so i have some questions about the current situation of CDDA.

- is the game still saving several thousands of very small files in the save folder or has that amount been toned down ?
- are NPC working better (i remember after a save/load losing NPC that was teaming up with my characters everytime) and are there more stuff to do with them ?
- is everything (bot/turret/undead/animals/etc...) still wanting to kill you and only you, or are there now more enmity between things that should attack each other ?
- i remember there was mention of a scenario system in the plans, has it been implemented ?
- are the mooses still as dangerous as they were ?

Pick one card and remember its assigned letter/symbol.
