Yeah, when I think of a "lawnmower" that's small enough to be carried in an inventory, I'm imagining some kind of tiny weed-whacker. I should have mentioned that criteria at the start, sorry. I've never seen any yard-maintenance equipment that was both small enough to carry and used normal gas.
A lot of older lawn maintenance machinery uses normal gas, my hedge trimmer, weedwhacker and chainsaw use normal gas but they are also pretty god damn old.

I store fuel in the mower. Not much, admittedly, just whatever's left after cutting the grass.

NZ has 91 octane petrol, 95 octane, and diesel. 91 is for lawnmowers, crappy cars, and other machinery, 95 is for good cars, and diesel is diesel. So to me, at least, adding a new fuel type would make sense.

I guess the most sensible question to ask is whether or not the RL location has different types.

What do you think of as a "crappy car"? Very few vehicles need or benefit from higher octane fuel.

So survivors with those simple flamethrowers are a fucking menace. They've already destroyed two houses, one of which I was in when they lit it on fire. I barely made it out, and the room collapsed behind me and destroyed my shopping cart.

Could they spawn with those less? Because it seems like every other survivor has one.

Yeah, unless you have a high enough performance car that you are getting knocking while trying to run it on low octane fuel all you are doing by using higher octane is throwing away money. It has literally zero effect on the performance or gas mileage of your car if you use a higher octane than the engine actually needs.

In regards to the different octanes, it would be rather complicated to add. Different octane fuels can be mixed and you get the middle octane of the two (assuming equal proportions) and as such octane would need to be on a sliding scale - something that really doesn't need to be simulated considering higher and lower octane ratings will slowly damage the engine over time, rather than prevent it from working.

Yes, and any car that doesn't benefit from high-octane fuel is crap.

((I'm being facetious, if you hadn't noticed.))

In case anyone plays defense mode, we recently worked out some wonky code (net nerfage to starting cash, but wev).  Lotsa little fixes going in.

Can you use templates in character creation in it now? That was the main reason I stopped playing defense.

I don't think so, sorry.

Has weather been tweaked? I'm averaging about 2-3 lightning and or thunderstorms a day, frequently lasting most of the day. Kinda gettin annoying. Especially as its happening in early spring at below freezing. Not many thunderstorms happen then. Kinda rare. And don't try that time compression argument on me, my seasons last 90 days.

Is it because acid rain was taken out and there's less weather it can roll?

Yeah. Me too. Mostly because of all the snow and lightning storms.

The next logical step is adding a lightning blizzard.

Guys, it's the future, it would make sense for them to have a more uniform system of fuel, more refined stuff that sidesteps the whole octane grade issue and can withstand crazy compression by default. Obviously planes are not going to use the same one as cars, but lawnmowers and other generic stuff feasibly could. Why would they manufacture shitty fuel for shitty engines when the costs are low enough to produce good fuel and good, compact engines all around, that's asinine like going out of your way to make CRT monitor screens instead of LED. Retro stuff could still use our fuel system but having separate fuel just for that could be going too far.

If that would happen anywhere, it'd be Canada. Snow. With LIGHTNING.
