Latest news from DDA development, Portals.  Still WIP, but the really tough parts are sorted out.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I just thought about something. How do these portals interact with vehicles? Will they be sliced into one-tile wide slices if they try to drive through them?

Please let them be sliced into one-tile wide slices!
If I can figure out how to make the code do it, that's my plan.
Also though, there could be large (multi-tile) portals literally big enough to drive a truck through.  Need to figure out how to have that interact with vehicles properly somehow.
Also someone asked about the effect on objects in the tile when a portal opens or closes, I think the only possible answer is "slice in half with extreme prejudice"
...chainsaw shuriken.

Chainsaw Frisbee?  A sort of plat with a chainsaw strapped to it?  Or what about a good old "throwing saw"?

Why don't we have "Throwing yourself headlong at a zombie with a chainsaw helmet" in the game yet? This -is- a roguelike after all :P

Well the Chainsaw Lajatang is basically a stick with chainsaws at each end, so I guess you could theoretically throw it javelin-style.

Though the absurd image in my head was trying to throw it Frisbee style, which would be hilarious.

Obviously the only way to improve it would be to take two chainsaw lajatangs, strap them together at the center, cross-like, and pretend it's a fuuma shuriken.

Now I want a gun that shoots those circular saw blades.

Throwing a chainsaw would be a really terrible idea. They need steady constant pressure to really cut anything. You would probably do more damage hitting them with the heavy engine part than the blade. (to be fair, chainsaws would be a terrible weapon period. Unless you were trying to kill a stationary plant enemy, but its a game, so that can be handwaved.)

Strap a jet engine onto the chainsaw. Plus some stabilizers. Make a RPCL (Rocket Propelled Chainsaw Launcher).

Clearly we need to be both more accurate and over the top. Therefore we need a launcher that fires a robotic claw with a chainsaw in the center. It grabs on and pulls itself forward, using the chainsaw to dig as far as possible into the target.

Chainsaws are actually pretty brutal.  Because of the direction of the spinning chain, they really 'bite' into anything they're in contact with and naturally are drawn into it.  Once you make solid contact, the only real way to stop it is to kill the engine.  Granted, a thrown chainsaw would hurt about as much as throwing a razor disk - pretty painful, but only truly grazing, but some type of rocket propelled chainsaw, or swinging blade trap, would really do a lot of damage.  Any force that keeps it in contact, even gravity, will keep it grinding.

The only real option is to make them out of adamantine, put them in a box around a mininuke, set the box in the center of a city, and detonate as you drive away on a V12 motorcycle.

Ooh I want to be able to drag steel chains behind my car and then whip zombies while turns and have that moment of nervousness as the chains come flying back at me. Then I want to put chainsaws on the ends of those chains.
