Where do you get the recipe for a lightstrip? I used to use them then I stopped seeing them as a craftable option and it has been many moons since I last made one.

So it seems I accidentally put my canteen in my wheelbarrow and didn't notice... and then I got really thirsty... so right before going to sleep I go to take a swig from my canteen and... end up snorting a line of low-grade meth.

Also worth noting, if you're just wanting to be able to read at night, then a Lightstrip seems to be bugged.  I've had one running for literally a year and it's only at like 7,000/8,000 charge.  It only costs and amplifier circuit, copper, and a bit of battery.  Vehicle electric grids are mainly only useful for converting gasoline into energy for crafting stations, or solar arrays.

i could have used a couple of those in my lmoe shelter

The recipe for a lightstrip is found in What's a Transistor? or the electronics magazine, I don't know the name of it.

I think they are in Ham Radio illustrated.  I think that's where I found it anyway.  Might be others.

Also the recipe for them has changed, you also need a single piece of electrical scrap, which seems to represent miscellaneous resisters and diodes and stuff you would need to make...pretty much anything.   You find those from deconstructing broken consoles with deconstruct furniture.  Again maybe other places too.

They're in both Ham Radio Illustrated and What's a Transistor.

You can get electrical scrap easily by deconstructing parts.  Like, I think deconstructing a USB, amplifier circuit, or transponder will yield you electrical scrap.  I didn't know you could take apart consoles.  TVs and Microwaves probably also give scrap.

Yea so I figured, but I hadn't tried so I didn't want to assume.  Still the consoles practically explode into the things. :P

A glowstick can be used to read too.  They don't produce much light so they aren't useful for much of anything else.  When the glowstick is dead you can cut it up into a plastic chunk.

Those things are terrifying. Them along with zombie dogs are why I have a periodic line of deep pit forts running from my base all the way into town. Going into town for water? Build a pit fort. Going into town for food? Build a pit fort. A week later, you won't need anything but rocks and a nail board to stay safe on your journeys into town. Until an actual bear comes, pathfinds around the pits, and wrecks you. :P

Pfft. Zombears and zombie dogs are nothing. What's truly terrifying is skeletons and smokers. And anything that is hard to hit with arrows. I just took on a massive horde including brutes. Then a skeleton came along. Damn near destroyed my character. Had to switch to a crowbar just to hit the damned thing.

Say, if you give birth on a ranch and then murder your baby will a corpse drop be guaranteed?

I don't know if I've just got lucky or what, but my early game character was taking down zombears and all kinds of stuff just by blocking almost everything with his aluminum baseball bat.  With combat skills as early as level 3 or 4.

Zombears are OP because they spawn in droves once you've cleared out the regular zed, and they tend to realize you're in a sealed APC and make a B-line THROUGH your military composite armor-covered solar panel.

Sometimes I don't feel bad debug-spawning replacement parts.  I start reading a book, next warning is taking injury as three bears have ripped a hole in the side of my APC.

I think its just that they are so fast by the time the game would have given you a chance to react to the noise they already have gotten through and start gnawing on your face which takes a higher priority. Though of course having not looked into the warnings about noise part of the code and how reading interacts with it I can't be sure.
Anyway I have noticed that I am able to block quite well with my broadsword. Zombears are starting fall easily to the fact that I hardly get hit by them.

It's really this. The fact that I can be sitting in the middle of my safe zone and see one come in from an area that was supposed to be reasonably safe. When I ran out of shotgun ammo, that's when I decided to build lines of pit forts for them. It's as if "static spawn" = "static spawn + dynamic spawned terror bears." Nowhere is safe. :P
