But shopping carts

hold wood for fires,
hold extra (loaded) guns and ammo (read rockets and grenades)
hold heavy crap for encumberment purposes
function without wheels
make zero extra noise
cost 400 mp to move on.  it can literally.let you kite single enemies.
can be move for above purpose.
can hold traps
dont die.
follow directions better
dont accidently headshot you.

my last companion tried to eat a lighter and reload an imaginary gun.  of course you can have both . . .

Heh, when you describe them like that, shopping carts sound pretty OP.
A few more for that list.

Can provide toggleable light
Can set off traps for you
Can make an amusing getaway vehicle with a small electric motor
Can mount a full kitchen or welding station on them

Does 'setting off traps' help with landmines & ranged weapons?

Isn't a small electric motor the kind found in desk fans?  I just imagine somebody hopping into a shopping cart with a little mini desk fan on the back, flipping the switch for the fan and taking off at 20 mph as the fan propels the cart away from the horde.

Shopping carts should probably be pretty noisy, actually. Especially if the wheels get damaged.

Yeah, IIRC grabbing doesn't have noise/wheel responsibilities added in yet, so you can happily drag a fairly heavy object without wheels over rough terrain without an problems.

Yes to ranged weapons, no to landmines. Well, kinda to land mines, as you aren't standing on top of it. But, they make great ways to get risk free crossbows early on.

Just as a suggestion, the floor-mat things that you can sleep on shouldn't count as traps. Same thing for funnels. It feels dumb when I try to put one of them under me, and the game acts like it's dangerous, making sarcastic comments.

That's more of a problem with the game's ability to recognize dangerous vs. non-dangerous traps, and I believe that it's already been fixed in the experimental version (if it hasn't been then you should probably either report it over in the garage board on the Cata forums or on the github).

Is there a limit to the number of objects that you can place on to a tile, or in an area?
