I'm pretty sure that if you pick up a manhole cover you can use it as a shield and it has wblock_3.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Just checked, it doesn't. My guess is that they removed it.

You can block with it, but only as an improvised shield.

I've been reading this thread even though I don't play Cataclysm. That's some tough news, it reminds me of what I read in the Hellmoo thread about different versions of the game. I hope you guys can keep it from what happened to those threads.

Also I knew Glyphgryph in another game, a very good influence he was there upon that game, so keep your head up if this is a setback to you.

Look, I really don't want to repeat myself and nag you on and on, but did you fix the problem with creatures spawning before they should? I've been following the Github commit log, but noticed no indication of it being fixed.

wales is a good guy. I think he just wants to do his own thing. He has been very supportive of Cataclysm DDA and all the modders. I think wales likes the challenge of doing something by himself and likes the challenges of doing something different.

I would, if I had any meaningful coding experience. But I don't. Worse, I am not in a position to get any. And even if I did hack something together, it would only create more work for actual coders in the long run.

No, all my time coding has been spent working on NPCs and the creature rewrite. Sorry. It's been noted, it will be fixed for the next stable, but right now I just don't have the time. And I haven't spent as much time coding as I should because I've acquired a Nazi Dinosaur addiction, but that one is honestly my own fault so feel free to blame me for that.

this is a free game... if you want to pay for specific options you can PM glyphglyph on the forums and negotiate a price and see if there are any takers. These guys do this for fun. Glyph spends money out of his own pocket to host the forums and the website. These guys have a full time job. The full time dev they hired basically worked for minimum wage. You can get an entry level developer job at 45-50k with benefits.

Why do people get upset by the fact that whales is working on a sequel ?

Pffft. If you have time to post on forums and play games, you are most definitely in a position to get coding experience. It's, like, literally the lowest barrier to entry high-demand skill you could possible spend time working on learning, and all the resources you've ever need are free online.

I don't mean I don't have access to these, or that I don't have time, period. Yes, I agree, I do have time to post on forums and play games. There's a difference between those and learning to code. I've been working with very low-level coding, and it's work. And I've got enough of that right now. Especially now, with exams starting in a little over a month.

@guessingo: I don't want a new feature. I want a bugfix. I wouldn't even press it much, except for the fact that it's unplayable-level irritating and both of my previous posts asking for the status on that were either ignored or drowned in other posts or whatever.

And could we please stop derailing the thread with this discussion?

I don't understand, either. Cata DDA will remain an expanded version of vanilla Cataclysm 1, and meanwhile, there will also be a Caraclysm 2. It doesn't hurt DDA in any way.

Indeed, stop derailing it, ppl. Just stahp.

It has not been fixed. You can use the debug menu to remove them if you see them too soon, but that's only a stopgap measure.

I'll take a look at the code and see if I can find it, I've been meaning to try to contribute to this project, but I don't know how much help I'll be on this front - my C++ skills are rusty at best. Haven't done anything serious in it in years.
