Wild boars, which if anything will be more dangerous than Moose.

They are abit on par. Only boars normally live in more populated areas and are smaller targets.

Question: Was the Leather Trenchcoat removed from the latest version? I have a normal trenchcoat and a fur trenchcoat, but no leather. It was one of the few items of clothing that provided both high coverage and good armor for the arms, without requiring rare materials or high encumbrance.

Quick wiki check tells me that Moose are typically 2x the size of wild boar, at least the varieties that appear in NE.  So yea, they wouldn't be nearly as dangerous.  Moose on the other hand are bigger than some of the cars in the game.

The ol' quantum tile-size? :P
It may be bigger, but it can never be wider. Mechanics, ahoy! (I mean, thinking of it, DF really has wider workshops than there are wide dragons.)

On the note of leather-anything: Given how easy it is to craft x and y, isn't the process of tanning a tad bit...harder than what is given in game? Despite the double-edged sword of warmth and such (The furry mutation doesn't seem much of a boon given how it gives you a bonus against cold-which in turn means lower warmth threshold), leather clothing seem muchly..harder to come by given the repair system.

Or that I'm just underestimating the power of rags per clothing per rag.

Well, yeah, tanning's just a tad harder than [a]pplying a knife to a fur pelt in irl. :P
But I doubt that tanning and such's really worth expanding upon, given that at a certain amount of effort being put in, it's just not worth it, when you can just break into a house and slice up some shoes. ('course, I suppose a new type of stronger leather that one could get from tanning and such might be worth it. Maybe.)
And yeah, honestly, warmth tends to be a factor that really makes leather clothing(excepting my personal no-effort favorite, the leather vest) not all that great. Plus, it tends to have higher encumberence.
So... yeah. It all balances out in the end. Or something to that effect.

Also, if boars are in, then we totally need Flesh, as a nice, (semi-)neutral version of 'em. Gotta get me some nice delicious irradiated bacon.

More like, "once we get around to more late game stuff tanning will become (somewhat) more realistic". Right now it's not worth the work/reward ratio, but as we begin to add more late-game content and have players that are running longer games then a longer, more realistic tanning process will become more attractive.

Heh, wild boar bug me a bit more than moose or wolves.  They tend to live in groups called 'sounders', with around 20 pigs present.  I imagine them something like a pack of nearly-moose, because boar are generally either really skittish or really aggressive; wolves tend to be live and let live (at least out of the game).

Right, a group of 20 would change things a bit 0_0
(and now we have a better system for making them spawn in a group ^_^)

So, apart of pneumatic assault rifle (which could be rather OP because, well, bearings, except for RELOAD_ONE and low magazine size), what are other useful self-made ranged weapons that I can craft?

P.S. Now I want RV forge, dammit.

I attempted to bypass a city in my solar powered semi but unfortunately ended up being forced into the city by giant ants and a forest and then cornered by ants and zombies in the city. Hundreds of zombies and ants now lie dead by my Katana. This is what happens when a character's last name is literally samurai.

I'm on day 6 and well established. Right now I'm trying to reach the north end of the town. It's the farthest I've ever made it in this game.
Also, I had a bizarre little panic moment where I drank the last of my clean water and forgot about the RV right next to my house. It actually wasn't until day 3, after I spent all of day 2 looking for a hotplate, that I realized there was an RV with a functioning kitchen right next to the house I was stashing stuff in.

EDIT: Also it is always raining. Grrrrrr......
EDIT2: I also just now realized that I don't even need to purify my water, the RV kitchen dispenses clean water.
