Wait... Stone fireplaces are for indoor use? I was visualizing an open-top fire pit sort of dealy, so this is wonderful news to me.

Yep. Just like a wood stove, a stone fireplace contains fire, vents smoke, and can be used for all fire requiring recipes. Great for crafting in the late night/early morning, or during acid rain. The open-top fire pit dealies are braziers, they can be used to light fires without igniting anything nearby but still give off smoke making them unpleasant to use indoors.

Use a filter mask. No smoke problems.

IMHO you should always carry one around regardless- smokers can and will kill you easier than you think.

Speaking of fire, I've been burning books for cooking fuel this whole time without realizing they could be disassembled into a big pile of paper, each of which can be used to make a fire itself. This seems bordering on an exploit, since I think 3 books or so just gave me enough paper to cook with for the next year.

Nah, it's the same deal with Heavy Stick -> Wooden Skewers. They're still trying to make a better system for fire.

Papers are used to make bookplates, which is a somewhat questionably effective armor.

Don't exactly know what you mean; Adderall is a general stimulant whereas adrenaline is a stimpack with a pretty hefty comedown penalty.

Take both. Adderall is good for those "oh fuck" moments when you need that extra speed. Adrenaline is better for those "Oh doublefuck!" moments when you need as much speed as possible to get away from something fast.

I usually do, except when I misplace mine. It's not the toxic smoke that is the problem. It's the giant cloud of grayscale '8's that fills the room to the point where you can't see where you stashed your supplies to work with them. It's the endless warning messages requiring a capital 'Y' for every step. A Wood Stove or Stone Fireplace isn't for my physical health, it's for my mental health.

As for the recipies, do YOU want to go add all those lines of code to do that?

I may not have the experience needed to modify the game at will, but I have seen the recipes, they're not exactly heavy lifting.  For nine grand of seed money, yeah I would take the time to add obvious cross-functionality like that when it comes up.
I'd like to point out that the nine grand of seed money goes to pay GalenEvil to first accomplish the kickstarter goals, which still have huge amount of work to be done before they are all complete. After that he will go on to do other things, but right now all of his time goes to implementing and fixing those, which means that unrelated things (such as adding bone broth to all broth related recipes) are not his responsibility right now. If anyone wants to make a git PR that does add those then we'd most likely add it in, but for the moment it's on hold until somebody puts enough priority on doing it.

Recently did a nice gun mod run and I noticed one tiny thing.

The crossbow modifier. While able to shoot bolts like a normal crossbow, it only has a range of 3 total squares. :S

Is..that how it should work? Was planning to use it as my silent kill to maim in the night against the zombies..but 3 squares is far too little a range to be of any good use.

You will notice a running theme here, but if you find a nailgun, find some building that you won't need and burn it down. You will get *stupid* amounts of nails. As for why would anybody want to use a weapon with the range of three, two words: zombie dogs.

EDIT: some notes on Molotovs:

It makes sense that you cannot use jars - they are glass, but they don't have a narrow neck like bottles and flasks, so the rag would either fall in or out of the jar.

I also wish for an alternative Molotov recipe - this is a real-life method, that had been used, for example, in the street fights during the Warsaw Uprising (that's how I learned of the method, I read about that): A bottle of alcohol as in regular molotov, some concentrated acid and sugar.

The way it works IRL is that you mix the sulfric acid with alcohol and put a strip of sugar on the outer wall of the bottle, so once the bottle is shattered, the acid encounters sugar and dehydrates it in a reaction that gives out lots and lots of heat, igniting the alcohol. It's basically a V2 molotov, since it is perpetually 'lit' and is ready to use anytime you need. Plus, it gives some unexpected uses to acid and sugar.

Also, while making a Molotov, what you want is a plastic bottle (well, other things work, but those are by far the most common). You need 14 servings of booze to make one, and that happens to be the capacity of a plastic bottle.

Nailguns have a few advantages. Switching to full auto does passable damage, around 20 per burst assuming your target doesn't absorb anything. It's also very fast, you can usually put multiple bursts into a zombie before it can take a step. If a burst finishes off a zombie, it will automatically fire at any other nearby targets which is kind of nice. And of course, mag size of 100 rounds with one of the most common ammo types is pretty nice.

Speaking of which, does burst fire train you faster or is it more ammo-efficient to fire semi only?

Only to 1. You can upgrade it to a nail rifle, but that only raises rifles to 1. I don't think the exp gain to firearms from nailguns is capped though, so there is that. Honestly, until you can raid a few gun shops, sporting goods stores, and pawn shops the only good ranged weapons are thrown and bows.

I don't know of burst trains faster, but you can hit 1 handguns with a single 100 nail clip and decent focus, so ammo isn't really an issue.


Edit: Found a house full of sciency stuff - laser rifles, advanced medications, power armor, etc. It was also full of spiders. So I burned it down.

I hate spiders.

low range weapons are fun.  Zeds come crashing through and all of a sudden you pull the RM99 out of your wasteband and blow the entire upper body of a brute away.  Don't tell me how you manage to get a 2 kg revolver into the waistband of a skirt/fur underwear.

My last set of games has been plagued by becoming overconfident and needing to throw molotovs 2 units away to deal with brutes and hordes.  My characters have hand-eye coordination problems, since they throw the molotov on their own feet most of the time.

edit:  A neat unique weapon might be gyrojet gun.
