Noticed that alcohol withdrawal goes away based not just on time, but how long you stay awake. Trying to sleep it off by getting constantly tired from the (inevitable?) flu/cold does seem to give it about an 8-10 day time frame, but you could get rid of it within 2-3 days if you do your darndest in staying awake and getting things done.

Also, where do you get seeds?

I've gotten a few from picking strawberry bushes, but haven't gotten far enough to check stuff from stores or farms. Are they plant-able yet?

Not sure. Maybe? I tried to plant them myself, and although I can convert "mounds of dirt" into "planted seed" tiles, the seeds I planted plop out anyway, and since you can't examine or drop anything into the "seed" tile, I'm not sure how you're supposed to use fertilizer (chitinmeal, bonemeal, or plant food). Moreover, I've waited for nearly 2 months yet nothing happened.

I'm pretty sure Azmodean mentioned that horticulture wasn't fully implemented yet.

Ah, ok.

Oh, before I forget: is there any way to deal with those damned land mines, besides avoiding them entirely that is? I know there are giveaways as to their general location, but is there any way to actually track exactly where they're planted and remove them accordingly? My only plans so far are to either run them over with my truck or don heavy armor and guess where they are, with all the frustrations that brings...

Why do you want to deal with them?  They're usually perfectly avoidable...

Throwing rocks might work, otherwise raise your perception.

Perception will help you see any traps and the trap skill will let you disarm them and then if you so desire place them elsewhere. Of course you can always use bomb sniffing zombies with the ones that are near a town.

Ugh. Your car runs into a bush that you can punch down by hand in one shot. You lose control of the vehicle. Please back up and try again. Repeat X 30.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

So, I decided it's high time I tried to get into Cataclysm. First char: runs into a landmine, miraculously survives unscathed save from destroyed clothes. Finds a motorcycle, smashes into a tree. He actually survived that too, but I decided to start anew.

Second char: finds a LMOE shelter, gets bad food poisoning from a mushroom (I think), finds a military base, dodges all the shots from a turret. Killed by spiders while hunting a deer with a pointy stick.

I love this game already.

The funniest thing is seeking shelter from a cave during a thunderstorm.

So the explosive blasted his clothes clean off? Sounds like some piece of fanservice in a shitty fanfiction.

It does. But I shit you not, this is precisely what happened. Well, his shoes were untouched. So either contrived fanservice or Loony Tunes found a way into Cataclysm.

That occurrence is true. You can survive a landmine blowing up below you-just that it damages your legs in the red.

...And then you sleep it off like it was nothing.

Glad to see my character still alive. Her skills at surviving explosives with a kevlar vest and army pants are amazing.

Was recently puddling about in a sewage plant and after triggering the wrong thing the roof caved in on my head. Good job I was wearing my safety helmet!

Is there a mod removing giant mosquitos and shit? They're really annoying.

They just... take too much out of the game for me. They never stop chasing, they have poison when RL mozzies only have an anticoagulant (if memory serves). Cataclysm would do better with realistic mosquitoes (plus diseases and itching) rather than giant ones.
