Curses uses a primitive rendering library that results in better performance. SDL allows you to use tiles.

How does the 'Crossdressing' trait work?  In specific, what are considered 'male' clothes?  Like... pants?

Your question made me realize how uneqal men and women are in the current society.

Women may use or not use cosmetics. Women may wear female or male clothes.

Men... Yeah.

I really don't understand the feminist movement that women are controlled by society and forced to feel pretty.  Workplace discrimination I can understand, pay rates and CEO positions and political power and whatnot.  But makeup and clothes and appearances, pfft, there's a fanboy section for every appearance of female :P

Either way, I'm assuming that if I choose "crossdresser" and "groom" I'll qualify as wearing male clothes?

There are..reasons on why, Deon. :P

...I'd poke at the physical characteristics as well as what hormones do to the body but then that'll take a loooot of stuff to explain. Oh, and culture and practicality.

...But I think that idea is relative between cultures? Unsure on that point.

Anyway, how does the Crossdressing trait exactly work? Doesn't seem to work when I give it to my character. She wears pants and uses a trenchcoat and doesn't seem all the happier..Or maybe the technical names like wearing a...suit? I think?

Crossdressing might be limited to men in dresses. I dunno, but that's often the definition of crossdressing because of points made above (women in suits/pants).

Physical characteristics? Meh. Skirts feel less tight than pants, it means they are better suited for men and their stuff. Also bra on muscled chest looks great as well, and bra on small woman breast is someting which can be removed... Or on big one...

But I talk from the comfort point of view, because you know, we have to survive zombies and stuff...

This is awkward. Go play my tileset version instead of reading this stupid post. Wroom wroom.

Eh, I remember trying the crossdressing trait once. I ended up running through a zombie infested town wearing a dress and slaying zombies by the hordeful with a katana and shotgun.

I remember thinking to myself: So THAT'S what Dead Rising 2: The Roguelike would look like.

I am the Rock Thrower.
I shall know no fear for as long as the rocks will be plentiful.
By the will of the Stone Zombies will die.
...

It scares me how much effective it is to run backwards-throw stone-run backwards.
Sure, I inflict more damage close and personal with a Crowbar but...gotta love the stones man, gotta love the stones!

“Well,” he said. “We’re in the Forgotten hunting grounds I take it. Your screams just woke them up early. Congratulations, Lyara.”
“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.
Basileus clapped his hands once. The Forgotten took a step forward, attracted by the sound.
“There, I did something. I clapped. I like clapping,” he said. -The Investigator And The Case Of The Missing Brain.

Unless I am misunderstanding you, a large chested woman can't go without a bra. Like, ow. My wife would back up my statement.

Also, new disadvantage, "only" for women but could work with either. Large chested. Must wear a bra, or continued strenuous movement causes increasing pain.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

Well, some men wear kilts, yeah? Those aren't very restrictive. Neither are boxers.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

Nah, wearing non-supportive torso gear just gives a 1 encumberance and some bad mood.  A bra, or fitted under armor would work, as well as a few other clothing options I can't be bothered to look through the list.  It'd be a 1 point character trait at best.

Hang on, are kilts in the game? Because that'd be amazing.

I feel personally insulted by the description of the towel.  It REALLY needs added "Never leave home without it." to the end!

Humans survived for many thousands of years without bras.
