That's actually exactly what happens right now.. If you download an experimental version you can see the full version number from the main menu (the about page I think)

Yes, but for exemple my experimental version read 0.7.1-1028-gb5bec8e. Not exactly the clearest version number. Moreover, what shadenight and me asked was if it was possible to display the experimental version number on the website, over the download link, so you can know if there is a new experimental build to download.

(Although what I generally do is just download a new game each time I start anew game, as the game move so fast).

Yes, precisely that. For example, now sheb told me he has version 'one thousand and something' while I'm still at 900 and something.
If furthermore you made it with a 'twitter' account, where you just would have to 'twit' "Updated to version X" more people would be satisfied.

As long as there is progress, people will see that the money they donated was well spent.
It's a key concept of business.
Even if windows 8 becomes 8.1 because of a mere graphical change, people are happy all the same.

“Well,” he said. “We’re in the Forgotten hunting grounds I take it. Your screams just woke them up early. Congratulations, Lyara.”
“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.
Basileus clapped his hands once. The Forgotten took a step forward, attracted by the sound.

It's the hash for the last commit it possesses. If you want to know immediately when a new version comes out, you can compare that to the latest on the Github - if it's the same, nothing is new, if it's different than something is new!

Making it work in the link would be much more difficult, since it's hosted offsite.

If you hang out in the IRC Jenkins announced every new build, though.

I just look at the commits and see what's been added.

Didn't think of that. Thank you!

Now I'm imagining a fat, balding, shirtless security guard going crazy and firing into a crowd of zombies, screaming "I AM THE LAW NOW!"

And promptly getting his ass kicked by a copbot.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Ah, nice things happen when you finally find a build that works.

Throwing for the Win.

Suffer, Zombie, through my powerful Spartan!

Really, imagine this strange guy who is supposed to be fighting with a bow (archer background) and instead ends up making pointy sticks and throwing them at zombies for 21/30 damage.

"ALL HAIL SPARTA!"

And I found a working car in a parking lot, avoided a hellish traffic labyrinth (saw life flash in my eyes a couple of times steering the wheel since driving's at zero) went through acidic drizzle and found my new safehouse in an abandoned Gas station away from the city (because, duh, GAS!)
...

Now I just need to unload the supplies and then try and enter the second police outpost.
The first one...I mistakenly unlocked the manhacks. (In my defense, I didn't know it was supposed to do that!)

Use a hoe to make a mound of dirt and then (e)xamine it IIRC. After that you should be able to plant a seed there which will start to grow slowly.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
