So I've got the git client, and when I try to 'refresh' to grab the most recent commits, it always fails and wants me to open the shell.  Any advice?
Ok, this assumes you are on windows using the git client app. If you aren't then disregard this if you want, it might or might not be the same on your OS.
1) You want to be using "Sync", not "refresh". Click on the "open this repo" button and then it should have a "Sync" option at the top.
2) Sometimes if you switch windows and come back while it's still syncing I find it gives me the error message. Just hit "cancel" and wait, when the bar finishes it should have updated just fine. Don't worry if it stops for a long time at 39%, there is one very large file that occupies that slot.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

I think car should display a measure of fuel efficiency somewhere. Would be cool.

They do, when you examine them look on the bottom left.

That's the part that didn't make sense because I had no idea.  Guessing that's game.cpp

Any way to get them to change their weapons or to armor them up? I gave him plenty of melee weapons, but my NPC buddy keep fighting with his rock.

As far as I know, no.

This is why I learn all I can from them and then dump them in a zombie horde in the middle of a city, they're beyond useless save for their teaching capabilities.

Or I run them over. Works as well.

I usually fire with insane bowskills and oneshot them with an arrow to the eye. Less mess on the car.

Ok, seriously, how many ants does a single hive have?

Just did some doughnuts around a wreck that had a LAW I really wanted.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
200+ Giant ants later.
The Hell Dozer was making it's living ramming into doctors offices, but this seems like a better use.

I raid ant nests all the time and I never see that many. Gotta get those ant eggs; best source of nutrition EVER.

Hey everyone. I downloaded a Cataclsym and.. Promptly.. Had my arse handed to me on a rather rusted and none-silver platter by a small hoard of zombies. This is -probably- my own fault for not reading wiki's or asking anyone for advice. Infact, the only knowledge I went into this game with was the following.

  • Dwarf fortress people play it, which means I'll probably die.
  • There are zombies.
  • There are things more dangerous than zombies
  • What I learnt in the tutorial

So yeah. In a while I'll try my second run, once again without reading any advice from anyone. I'll probably post up what happens on this here thread, maybe you guys can tell me how I got myself massacred/make fun of me/share tales of similar misfortunes/etc

Wish me luck.

*edit*

Also: This is my first post. Yay for breaking lurker-ness.

Set your spawning mode to static in settings. Then just raid the outskirts of towns. If you start with a point in mechanics, you can smash a locker for a pipe, get a rock outside and craft a crowbar, which can bash zombies and can be 'a'plied to windows and doors to open them quietly and without smashing. Break windows and fight zombies over them, because windows and bushes slow them.

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

You don;t need the point in mechanic to get a crowbar. I'd advise putting it in tailoring, or starting out with the tailoring profession. Being able to make yourself good clothes is amazingly useful.

Tailoring is also one of the simplest professions to learn with no outside help, once you get any sewing kit. You can Disassemble string from broken windows into thread and just practice sewing on any piece of undamaged clothing from a house.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

So, I was driving along and I see this purple thing surrounded by what seems like portal. On closer e(x)amination I see it's a portal, and surrounded by two flaming eye things and three glitches or whatever they're called. I run them all over because the flaming eyes were giving me a dirty look and continue back to a 2nd LMOE shelter to transfer it's food and supplies to my CURRENT LMOE shelter home. As I am parking, suddenly I teleport. I look around, I don't have any teleporter in my inventory, nothing. I was thinking it was a glitch, so slightly unperturbed, I head inside and start loading up my truck. When I get in the driver seat of the truck, suddenly I'm CATAPULTED into a bunch of trees ahead of me, luckily my truck is tough, nothing was broken, so I am thinking it must be another glitch. Then I get on the road, and I keep getting messages, something about fractals, something along the lines of "Oh god, what's happening?" and my character feels nauseous.

I'm almost certain this portal caused it, and I'm actually a little scared right now, what is going on? Should I keep a big gun nearby at all times?

Edit: About 5 minutes later stuff started getting REALLY weird, and I checked my effects- it seemed I was hallucinating. I slept, and everything seems fine now, I'm still going to keep a gun nearby because the teleporting was NOT a hallucination, I'm pretty sure about that. Aliens aren't impervious to .45.

I really like how there are engines in cars now-it really makes the apocalypse seem like a sudden zombie infestation in stead of a zombie infestation where everyone had the time to remove their engines in the streets and fashion them into machines to make cargo pants and fingerless gloves.

I can't believe nobody mentioned the most important piece of information for any aspiring apocalypse survivor: Windows Are Your Friend!

You see, windows take longer to move through for both you and zombies, so if you stand right next to a window and make the zombies climb through it, you can get several shots in before they can move again. Also, smashed windows are slower to move through than opened. You can smash things with s.

Does anyonw know how to make salted meat? I have fairly high cooking  and survival skills, but I don't have access to that recipe yet.
