Don't garages almost always have a welder? They spawn enough stuff to get at least one.

Sounds fantastic. I'm especially jazzed that you're planning on revamping the combat system to make it more strategic and less about repeatedly smacking enemies and hoping that you don't get hit.
I also hope that the speeding up while moving in one direction (effectively the ability to sprint) can be toggled off in case you want to walk and not "push yourself to your limits" every time you want to go somewhere in a straight line.

I'll probably implement an actual "run mode", which drains fatigue, but has momentum bonuses. Also, the momentum bonuses will come especially useful when attempting longer jumps!

Player in run mode:
@x    - Next move
Next move if moves forward/does nothing/moves backwards/jumps
1. .@x / .@. / x@. / .@xx
If moves forward...
2. ..@x (2/3rds cost) / ..@. / .x@. (1.5 cost) / @xxx (goto step 1)
If moves forward...
3. ..@xx / ..@x. (half cost, goto step 2) / ..@.. (1.5 cost) (goto step 1) / @xxxx (goto step 1)

Moving forward diagonally means:
2. (press up-right diagonal)
..x
.@.  (3/4ths cost)
...
Moving straight up would take the same amount as normal but kill all your momentum, sending you to step 1 in the new direction.
3. (press up right diagonal)
...x
.@x. (normal cost, your direction is now up-right diagonal, still at step 3)
....
(press up)
..x.
.@.. (1.25 cost, throws you back to step 2 in up right diagonal)
....

If you run full tilt or jump into a wall, you and the wall may take some damage. In most cases, the wall will win. Sometimes, though, you might just bash right through the window or webs or whatever!

This is still hypothetical, of course, it might not play well at all.

Even if they where 100% guaranteed in a garage(they aren't) you would need to get to said garage first. This way you just start with a welder which is quite interesting to find and is somewhat rare.

medicine doesn't get used and this includes things like bandages and I assume first aid (not found any yet) makes that all moot but whatever.

Yeah, all meds, bandages, and FAKs I've used haven't been 'used'.

Hmm. First Aid Kits seem to work for me, but nothing else really does.

A scalpel is a type of knife. They are just very specialized. The scalpel for precise flesh cutting with least amount of tissue damage, the X-acto knife for precisely cutting paper and other such craft things. The difference between the two is how sharp they are, the scalpel is hella sharp.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That's pretty cool, I feel that everything should work a bit like vehicles, just as 1 tile instead so you get momentum and then some monsters can have high speed but low acceleration or turning or vice versa etc...

Weird :/

Either that or I'm getting car construction wrong.

Made a test character and made a solar-panel'd car. With the solar panels under a roof, yet 'above' their respective storage batteries, and a solar panel out in the open on a frame (comparison). The car has a large electrical motor. It also has a water tank (wanted to see how those worked after seeing them in a runner's run on one of my earlier characters..)

Sunny days.

No power to car? Which is totally outside and under the weather.

Err..

Decided to try better arrows. Headshooted a jumping spider for 120 with a longbow and metal arrows at 7 tiles from it. My archery is at 10 after crafting 130 metal arrows.

Is there a way to manually re-scale the window? All I turned up on a search was increasing the font size, which makes the game readable, but there's no word wrap and some menus are cut off (the clothing layer screen in particular).

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

Huh. I interpreted that as the viewable gameplay window, my mistake. Thanks!

Glyph: if you're implementing run modes, you should probably make it hard to go from a full charge forward to a full charge backward, and have you lose momentum when going left or right.
