Yeah, maybe.... really wasn't expecting that to happen, though.  Was reading through a bunch of logs containing interesting story stuff.  Then the next option down the list happened to not be story stuff.

It tells you about that option in one of the logs, but yes, its a fucking pain.

What's not fun is those jabberwock things. Especially when there's one spawning at a few map tiles from the starting shelter and you can't outrun it.

Good time i just remembered there was a "classic" mode setting in the options.

edit : oh great, even after enabling the "classic" mode , reset-ed the save as instructed, i managed to escape a zombie swarm from a town close the shelter, running into a forest and ... jabberwock again.

oh well.

I'm debating the best method to add chainmail.  It's actually exceedingly easy to produce, just tedious.  The only tools you really need is some wire, a pipe, bolt cutters or a saw, and pliers or equivalent tool.

Step 1: Craft a spring using pipe as a tool, consuming wire as a material.
Step 2: Craft "bundle of rings" using bolt cutters OR hacksaw as tool, and consuming the spring as material.
Step 3: Craft the clothing or bag using pliers - these aren't in the game, so they could be added or an equivalent tool could be used.

Of course, toolset would suffice for all, and no electricity is required - you could possibly add battery tools to make crafting faster.

The fuckers still spawn.
Just got killed by one. Fresh out of shelter, nice map too...

EDIT:
NINJA!

And good idea with the chain mail. Gotta be some pretty heavy gauge wire though.
Perhaps having 4-link and 6-link? 6-link being stronger, but taking longer and costing more.

No need to muddle specifics with people who don't know the different styles.  Just make different sets of 'regular' and 'heavy' and those of us in the know, will know the regular is 4-1 and the heavy is 6-1 or kingsmail.

And really, chain link fences drop 'wire' when destroyed.  That's some decently sized galvanized steel wire, and will suffice for protection, especially if you're making it to be durable.  I mean, we're not talking about electrical wire here...

How high does your computer skill need to be before you can reliably unlock consoles?  I'm tired of breaking them with my ineptitude and summoning manhacks, and I don't really feel like spending several days reading SICP.

I've noticed a few bugs, although I'm not playing the latest version so I don't know if some of these have been resolved, but I haven't seen them mentioned:

-Trying to throw anything at smoker zombies simply performs no action.  No message, item doesn't leave my inventory, etc, just giving commands and nothing happening.  It's the smoke itself causing the problem, because I can't even throw anything through a smoke cloud.

-You can remove wheels from a vehicle in the dark, but it doesn't transfer experience from pool to skill.

-Wooden skewers, despite their description, cannot be used for cooking.

-Multiple vehicles that spawn on top of each other cannot be used for parts, because trying to remove stuff from one of them transfers to the other's menu and says "You removed null part from vehicle", although that might have been because it was a motorcycle on top of a truck.

I've had reasonably high success rates with 4-5.
Then again, i have my characters drink every cup of urine mutagen they find and they usually end up with decent traits.

Was so annoyed by those jabberwocks that i just created a character specially to have my revenge.
Of course a debug wish for M79 Launcher and a few 40mm incendiary may have helped a bit

well, it helped a lot

Is there still no way of ever fixing it if you flub an installation and end up with a faulty bionic?
