I didn't get a screenshot, but I took down two hulks and a jabberwock.    Then did a action movie stunt and jumped out of my deathbike while it was going at full speed.    It exploded in a crowd of zombies, and I had a victory feast of vodka, rabbit meat, venison and some more vodka.

Gas stations. Mainly, the lone sort. No zombles spawn there.

Rivers as well, but you'll need to purify them. Swamps are risky as hell for water, don't go to them.
