I haven't played in a while, so I don't know if it's still feasible, but I used to whittle down hulks pretty easy while kiting them through brush and stuff, just by buying the quick and fleet-footed perks and using a fast weapon.

I've never had problems with anything as long as I have arrows.  Having four levels of survival and archery at the start is VERY overpowered right now.  The biggest challenge is finding fletching.  Once that's done nothing can stop you.  (Except for those damn skeletons). 
I even almost killed a Jabberwock with only field point arrows.  If I had been able to engage with fletching it would of been a kill.

Go out and kill crows in the fields. One crow can get you 1-3 feathers or so or something. Each of those feathers translates to 10 fletching. Once you do that, smash up lockers or whatever to get scrap metal and make arrowheads out of it. Make them into wood arrows, which are some of the best arrows. If you're really dedicated, you can make heavy wooden arrows, but those take more resources and wood arrows are pretty decent anyway. If you find a few wrecks or you take apart a few cars, though, I'm sure you could get metal arrows, which would be even better.

We're talking about 0.6, right? Right underneath the flammable arrows, there's wood arrows at difficulty 5. They have 10 damage. Easy to make, so long as you carry shafts and fletching around with you.

bowman is doing crazy good! now its time to get some supplies and learn all the books i've got

applying a needle or bone needle to clothing will improve the fit and doing it again will reinforce it to make it resist damage better. Both actions use up some of whatever material the clothing/armor is made of though so have some spare rags/leather/etc

Can you see anything else on your map?  If so you can long rang teleport to it.  If not I have no idea.

Really doing well on this char I think mainly due to the fact that I found the Katana in like the first 5 minutes in a nearby mansion.

Yeah finding swords early is pretty broken.

Thanks for the tip guys, I cheated an up-stairs in and my character is now in the middle of chopping up a car that was blocking a bridge
