Are you using an old character template or preset?

Yes, actually. I use the same template for most of my characters. I guess that causes that, then?
Yeah, they break cross version compatibility sometimes.

Yep. Newly created character was able to sleep without trouble. Then ran into a Hulk. It was fairly messy.

Don't think it's going to happen.  Haven't seen any bees around, and my arms are like party streamers.

Nope... By the time I understood how this thing worked, I was terminally dehydrated.  Made a mad dash for a river a few blocks away, and was too weak to outrun zombies.

Omg i found a flatbed truck. Fun was had. Although i like the mode where zombies do not spawn, that makes more sense.

I have a question or so. I was making a character and I understand what the stats do and such but noticed I was not quite clear on some of the things. Basically what is Ranged bonus, I assume its ranged to-hit but it doesn't specifically say "to-hit" like the melee to-hit does. Also what is Skill Comprehension, once again I can make some guesses (I assume it means ease of learning skills) but I would like a better answer then a guess.

So it seems I accidentally put my canteen in my wheelbarrow and didn't notice... and then I got really thirsty... so right before going to sleep I go to take a swig from my canteen and... end up snorting a line of low-grade meth.

I always figured ranged bonus was exactly like a to hit bonus.  And I'm almost certain skill comprehension is how much skill you gain for the experience used.  Of course somebody who knows the code could correct me.

As a joke I made a character that is supposed to play exactly like my friend plays Resident Evil 6.  And I learned that martial arts is actually pretty damn strong.  'Chris Redfield' must have taken out 50 zombies his fists alone before falling to an unknown game freeze.

My world is filled with unspeakable horrors. Worse than zombies... worse than mutated animals... worse than anything I've encountered thusfar. My world is filled with Shia LaBeouf. I've encountered three seperate "Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf"s Each one dies with an error that appears to be in regards to the equipment drop. I've never let one get close enough to hit me... but they certainly appear scary. Of course I died to driving through a swamp with my best character thusfar... who'd have thought I'd be at risk from enemy hits going 40 mph.

Actually, I learned from testing a while ago that skill comprehension just increases the speed at which you spend experience to gain skill. So more intelligence does not actually give you a better experience to skill ratio, you just spend it faster.

Considering how long it takes to gain experience, and how fast you go through it regardless, 90% of the time your skill gain speed is limited by your experience gain rate. So a higher skill comprehension is only advantageous when you are grinding skill through limited resources, such as firearms or crafting.

Considering that you can now read all books with any amount of intelligence, I almost always start with 8 INT now.

Odd, it sounds like you're saying there is an independent type of experience?

By the way, how is the proper NPC implementation coming along ? It's kind of a big deal and would bring the game up to a whole new level of awesome. Can we even do it without Whales ?

Hm... That gets me thinking, actually. Imagine if you made other horror game protagonists in Cataclysm. Who would survive? I imagine Issac Clarke would be good in the long run since he'd have to have some points in mechanics and electronics cos he's an engineer, but he'd also have bashing/firearms (Since he only uses engineering weapons it might be bashing, but since he only uses ranged engineer weapons in Dead Space it could be firearms) to defend himself. Any other horror protags would be kinda okay in the short-term but run out of ammo fairly quickly, or get swarmed. Daniel from Amnesia the Dark Descent would suuuuck, since he can't use weapons, doesn't really have any skills that match up to Cataclysm since he's an archaologist, but he would definitely have the perks fleet-footed and quick on his side, no doubt.

Eh, she'd be basically Issac Clarke with rifles instead of bashing, though.

It depends where in the movies you set her. At the start you can basically use whatever "marine" template you have but later movies and it can be interesting. For instance she gets crossed with alien dna and makes me want a analog to cyborg trait for mutations.
