We're adjusting spawn rates and ratios, it should be a bit better soon as we make tweaks in that direction.

I've been playing the same as Mini described.  I'm not even taking Fleet Footed anymore.  Just Quick.  If you guide zombies over terrain (of which there is plenty), you can outrun even hulks.  I've also got in the habit of carrying something flamable on me.  Start small fires and lead brutes/hulks through them to take them out fairly easy.

And if you find a liquor store, just make a dozen molotovs and lead hordes into burning houses.

I like exploring. With my most recent character, I set the point limit to 3k and went to town.

Within the first half an hour, I found three units of C4. I held on to them for a good two hours before using them. I was trying to get into a lab without an ID. On my first attempt, I thought the C4 would go off in a number of minutes equal to what I press. Nope, ticks. It blows up in my face, but I survive.

I heal up, go through the crater, and explore the lab. After ages, I reach a wall that I think might have stuff behind it. I set another C4 for nine ticks this time and run away, though I can hear it ticking (since when does C4 tick?). Again, it blows up in my face. Again, I barely survive. For some reason, I thought I would drop it after activating.

Third time is the charm, though. After healing up yet again, I approach the wall that should have been a smoking crater, activate my C4, drop it, and run away. It occurs to me after the fact that I could have activated it from quite a distance away and just tossed it over.

I may be Wile E. Coyote.

I can just imagine some crack navy seal team now.

Bob: Ok bill set the C4 to blow this door.
*Bill takes C4 out of his pack*
*Bill arms the C4 and sets the timer*
*Bill puts the C4 back in his pack and hides behind the corner with the rest of the team*

Pro.

EDIT: I don't suppose there's any way to increase the resolution on the virtualbox tinycore version is there?  After playing at 28x28 in windows so long it seems odd to be limited to 18x18 at most.

RNG made me sad.  Went to great lengths to train up installation chances on a bunch of CBMs I'd found into the 60-70% range, after a couple shots of Adderall.  Was a disaster :(    The two I wanted most failed, and one of the failures ruined one of the successes.

Heh, Civ4 has taught me well in the ways of the RNG. 60% means the game is baiting you, 70% is even chances, and anything less then 100% is only a little better then a coin flip.

So it seems I accidentally put my canteen in my wheelbarrow and didn't notice... and then I got really thirsty... so right before going to sleep I go to take a swig from my canteen and... end up snorting a line of low-grade meth.

Are you using an old character template or preset?

Yes, actually. I use the same template for most of my characters. I guess that causes that, then?

Dealing 440 damage point blank to a hulk makes it all better.

Yeah, they break cross version compatibility sometimes.

Ok, static spawn is giving me more problems then I thought it would. Do I really have to commit genocide to a town in order to loot it? To get to any inner building it seems like I have to kill every zombie I see, or else it eventually turns into a horde.

NPCs make me so mad. While trying to get training, the guy starts shooting his gun and I see 1 hundred question marks outside so I', thinking a zombie horde came.... But nope, he's shooting at a deer and all those question marks were fake. I've even had NPCs run into the forest forever chasing squirrels.

Find houses that are on the outskirts. I have found that if its on a tendril of town that sticks out you might not even find any zombies there.

Oh and I have what I believe may be a bug. I found a rift that was all lava and since I had not found anyway out of the sewers I stripped all my gear except my wool socks (incase the after life was cold or something) and stepped out in to it. I took bad damage to my feet and legs but did not die. I eventually took my socks off as well and still I did not die. I slept on the lava when I got tired and I managed to have the best nights sleep in the game yet and my chest wounds from rats and snakes healed some. I eventually reached the end of the rift and had to travel in the tunnels again so died to a rat. If it matters I only had the wool socks as I had dropped everything else and I had the hp ignorant trait with version 0.2 that I compiled myself with Code:Blocks on a windows 7 machine. I did not think to make a save of it so I failed in that sorry.

I lol'd - I think this will forever be a defining characteristic of Cata, NPCs who absolutely cannot stand wildlife. No wonder the world came to an end!
