I'm pretty sure that is a bug with the display of the damage. Most things only damage from 1 to 4/5, pick locks go to 100, I'm willing to bet your pick lock is getting worse and worse underneath and making it harder to pick in the process.

Another really minor suggestion:  It would be nice if steel spears had the same cooking functions as wooden ones, for cooked meat and such.
I disagree; the steel spear is partly made of string and would burn and break if you did that.

You can use regular knives to "cut up fabric" too. Curtains are a good place to get rags.

Aaaaaaah! I am drinking all of this whiskey but am only becoming thirstier! Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh!
Congratulations. You found out the secret of alcohol.

Maybe we need an 'Australian' trait- alchohol quenches your thirst just as well as water. :P

I feel the need to point out that this doesn't really mirror reality.
While drinking alcohol will cause you to lose water faster, it is still (usually) mostly water and will at least prolong your death from dehydration.

Can't wait until they put in carboys of rubbing alcohol. Sanitizing wounds and drinkable. :P

Found a truck before 9:30. Sweet, lets depopulate the town before specials start showing- aaaaaand it's depopulated. Town had a radius of about 5 tiles average, ran over about 50 zombies and it's empty. Huh. Too bad there's not much here. Several garages and no mechanical skill books.

Really wishing garages had cardoors at least 1-tile wider for trucks.

Is gun maintenance implemented, unplanned or planned? Seems silly that I can trudge through swamps and have my guns work A-okay.

No, it doesn't. They wouldn't stop functioning after a few days.

While a lot of modern military guns are designed to do just that, some of them, especially the older ones and many civilian models would need a good cleaning if they were dunked in muddy water such as in a swamp or else risk malfunction, catastrophic or otherwise.
