Well....

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Plus an integrated tool set, 14 Science ID Cards, and mini-flamethrowers. Not really much to work with to be honest. I can't distract the bear with cooked meat, unfortunately.

You have a teleporter. Couldn't you just use that?
Also can bears break through windows in one go? If not I fully support the course of action that involves setting the bear on fire. Maybe burning your bandana and throwing it at the windowframe when the bear breaks through.

I'd say try to get it down to that south side, then run out the door and run like you have a goddamn bear chasing you.  If it catches up use the teleporter, head for the woods and hope you maneuver the trees better than it does.

EDIT: Oh wait not enough fire.  Burn the forest behind you. because F*** Smokey. Drop 1 round of ammunition behind you and light it, it's a near instant 3x3 wall of fire.

Stab the bear to death with your spear at the window, you might get nommed once or twice, but you should be ok, failing that, stab it 3 times, tele to the other side of the building, then stab it again when it climbs through the window to get out of your base, even if you dont kill it, it will be crippled enough for you to just run away from it.

I would ditch the spear and wield the hammer, also drop the backpack if you are gonna meet the teddy at the window.
With 10 str the spear tends to get stuck and odds are you have a higher bashing skill.

I have to ask, were garages removed at some point? I can't seem to find any and they're not even in the list of map symbols in the help menu.

Edit: Nevermind, I found one after 4 towns.

Bad luck for garages, i can find one to six per towns so far with the last build.
It's also really good to see more vehicles, but often with missing parts !

Can you put multiple engines on a vehicle? Is there a size/mass limit? I've never survived long enough to really mess with them too much.

You can put multiple engines on a vehicle, but you need 12 mechanics skill regardless of the engine type.  Probably really really hard to sync up multiple engines of different types.

And as far as I know there are no limits on vehicles outside the size of the building area.  Somebody on the DDA forums apperantly made a bike capable of going over a thousand.  Sadly though they ran out of road and crashed the thing through at least 5 tiles of structures before reaching top speed.

I just had one of the luckiest spawns ever.

This world seems to be full of downed helicopters, and near on such crash site was a Fusion blaster arm CBM. Not far away was another crash with Fusion blaster and Repair nanites. The town had a farm, megastore, hospital, mansion, loads of mil surplus stores, and a garage with all the parts for an electric car, including panels and batteries.

Unfortunately, I died of blood loss about an hour later.

I really have no idea how to survive long enough to do anything useful. The zombies swarm at about 9:30, and every day after that they get infinitely harder.

As soon as I spy zombies I either risk one more store for whatever I am missing or just skip town. Then try and find a woodland cabin, if you have a pot and a lighter you can boil water and hunt wolves to survive. Once I have read all my skill books I start running town for specific supplies. Don't use guns though. If you see a hoard, run fast, adderall helps stimulant level but save it for emergencies because its addicting and pretty uncommon.
