Don't be jealous Nighthawk. I began vomiting thick grey goo and died of dehydration.
Not sure why. XD I had a teleportation module installed on my body, and it said that using it could have unsavory side effects. I only used it once, but once was enough.

Yeah. Teleportation's really not worth it. :P
I think you can get similar effects from a floating eye, so avoid those too.

Hmm... did you make sure your character didn't have the Gets Spacetimesick trait? It's a hundred times worse than getting airsick or seasick, believe me - I know. :P

Hmmmm... Nope, no Gets SpaceTimeSick trait. XD Although if that existed, it'd be the strangest thing ever.
I have yet to see a floating eye.

I met a floating eye once. It smashed straight through 20 walls with its laser-vision madness, then stared at me while I beat the crap out of it. Some time during the battle, my shoes exploded, and I had hooves... which was pretty awesome.

So yeah, I'm guessing floating eyes have an irradiating effect which causes a random mutation or status.

That's one effect. You got lucky, to be honest. :P
Occasionally you can get teleportitus or even a fungal infection.

Here is a question

Did Global warming also destroy the world in Cataclysm?

I'm not the creator of the game- nor have I gotten far enough to consider myself as "winning" the game- but I believe the developer wants to leave what created the apocalypse up to you. Like a mystery, except at some point the game does state that you can find out more about what caused these events.

I don't know... my theory is EVERYTHING happened.

This is a world where everything that could end the world happened all at once.

Which the game seems to support. Which is funny it tried so hard to be a "You chose what actually happened" that it kinda becomes "It seems more reasonable to assume everything happened"

Just going by the evidence present, that's the most likely situation. Just about every unnatural Class 1-4 Apocalypse scenario, all taking place at the same time. Just off the top of my head, you've got zombies, nuclear/conventional war, rogue robots, Triffids, fungaloids, interdimensional rifts, Graboids, mutated animals, and the blobs.

If you read through the Lab Notes file in the Data directory you get a decent sequence of events that supports the blob theory

Don't forget the craters that dot the landscape- those could be evidence of bombs or asteroids. I think it's fun to imagine a nuclear war, some kind of zombie virus, the rise of the machines AND frequent meteor showers, because Mother Nature says "Screw you."

My understanding of what happened:

As for builds I love night vision and animal empathy.  Everything else just kinda depends on mood.

I haven't tried Animal Empathy yet, but I guess it might help with my hunting attempts. Right now during hunting I just make a lot of wooden spears and throw them at things until they die, or they are close enough for me to hatchet to death :P

I really don't like animal empathy that much. Perhaps I don't fully understand it? Sure, being able to stab a deer with your ring finger while it sits there and grazes is nice early on, but over time hunting for food becomes very, very easy. And, even when I do take animal empathy, wolves still run up to me at the same distance. Maybe they hesitate for a longer period before deciding to attack? But.. that matters little. It seems like once I catch the attention of a wolf, it'll eventually come down to killing it. And animal empathy doesn't seem to effect that eventuality.

Again I might be misunderstanding the skill, but it seems very sub-par.
