Not an option. Insane variety is too awesome to drop.
I must have phrased my previous statement wrongly. I meant dividing the inventory sceen into different categories like "comestibles" and "weapons", with the "Comestibles" category automatically opened when you press "E" to eat, etc.
This is actually partially implemented just now. It doesn't resolve the letter conflict, but when you press (E)at, it only shows food and drink, when you (W)ear items it only shows clothing and so on. It's a nice little quality of life adjustment.

Not all items that are eddible are listed as consumeables. Also would ruin the suprise with eating things.

Also i really want a mutation like Billy Goat in HellMOO that makes one able to eat anything.
There's a mutation that lets you eat underbrush :P

I believe the one that lets you eat underpants is a cybernetic implant, not a mutation.

Got a random crash after encountering another survivor. I was also murderized by a swarm of giant worms.

PTW.
Found Cataclysm through some annual voting of best RLs.
Enjoyed Whale's version to a degree, and started looking around to see if it was being developed elsewhere, came across DDA and was *quite* pleased. :D
Been playing pretty solidly, few bugs, few things that break immersion. Overall a great experience so far!

Poked around the Cataclysm forums, found the link to TDW's forum, found you, GG, as an admin there, and knew there had to be a thread over here :p
I think it's awesome of you to provide non-development support for the game, and I'm looking forward to it's future.

Hell, this might even finally convert me from my Windows-for-gaming-only stance, into full Linux.
Something so very... satisfying, about making a tweak here or there to get the game to do what you think it should.

Anyways, tl;dr; Awesome Game. Awesome Job Gryph.  8)

If I read that right about tweaking the game, Cataclysm is open source, and IIRC so is DDA, so you really don't need Linux to mod it.

You're right... but have you tried compiling under windows? It's a serious bitch.
And I'm a bit of a purist, and don't feel right using emulators when not required.

I'm glad someone is continuing this. I've played Cataclysm more than any other Post-Apoc game, and it's nice seeing someone's taken up the torch to keep playing it. Unfortunately I'm hesitant to try and assist with my meager programming skills, since I don't have Linux either.

Found an interesting typo where Jackhammers, both name and description, are in French. I kept ignoring them because I thought they were some weird, alternate jackhammer.

Also, anyone else having a problem with the world reverting strangely when saving and loading? I've had an entire days' worth of construction disappear, as well as having vehicles teleporting back to old locations when loading save games.

I think there are both jackhammers and jacqueshammers. I had one of the french ones too, even the text when you use it is in french and you get stuff like "From the south you hear, 'OHOHOHOHOHOHO'"

A quick glance through the Z menu confirms it for me jackhammers still exist alongside them.  I'm guessing it's a joke because french jackhammers appear to be a... thing.

There are both. They're identical, including amount of noise made, except for their text. Le Jaqueshammer es loud.

But monsieur! Zis is not a Jackhammer, it is a Jacqueshammer!

You need to save and quit, then select the exit button on the main menu, just quitting via the x button in the corner won't save the world state.

Yep, 'tis the exact reference ofc :P
