If you wear seatbelts, you might not be thrown clear of the car in the event of an explosion, though.
An interesting take on seatbelt safety.
"Remember kids: always wear your seatbelts or you will be horribly and painfully murdered by zombies after an explosion blows you away from the car".

There seems to be a bug - I assume it's a bug.  You can't install armor over many parts, including over boards.
It's intended. Everything needs to be installed on a frame, excluding blades/spikes. Armor works like transparent boards with different weight/durability. Doors, seats, armor, welding rig/kitchen, trunks, aisles, boxes, and all that stuff use the same slot as armor.

For the record, frames are are the "Structure" slot, wheels take the "Under" slot (Underbody wheels no longer count as a structure), engines have their own "Engine" Slot, and battery/hydrogen/gasoline/water containers have a fuel slot (Minireactor is also counted). Windshields take the "Over" slot, and horns, strangely enough, are important enough to have their own "horn" slot. Turrets and solar panels take the "on_roof" slot.

Flashlights don't have a dedicated slot, but you can only install one object of the same name a specific tile.

So, there's no way to make a very durable opaque wall?  That doesn't make sense...

can you install a bunch of spikes loadsetilese from your vehicle supported by thin air and just lightly ram your way across a fungal landscape

because if the mechanics allow it i'm porting the BATTLEBUS char to an experimental

Windshields use the "Over" slot, which can't be protected by armor.

Spikes and blades use the "Structure" slot but can't have anything else installed and it doesn't count as a structure when building due to its "Protrusion" flag.

Looking through the JSON, it appears a board and an armor plating have the same durability, 1,000.  Spiked and Alloy playing both have 900 durability, while Hard has 2,300 durability.

I don't see why you can't armor boards...  That was kind of the backbone of fortified vehicles, being able to build a WALL of armor...

Installing a 4-tile thick wall of boards is still possible.

Vehicles needed a nerf anyway.

So does anyone else notice that you can fill a 3 liter glass jar with clean water? Giving you 12 drinks for 3 volume? This just feels kinda off considering the canteen is 6 volume.

That IS worrying. What can we do?

I suspect it's just a problem with the item definition, I'll take a look (if I remember) when I get home tonight.

Yeah it's a simple item definition issue.
Code: [Select]
    {
        "id": "jar_3l_glass",
        "type": "CONTAINER",
        "symbol": ")",
        "color": "light_cyan",
        "name": "3l glass jar",
        "description": "A three-litre glass jar with a metal screw top lid, used for canning.",
        "price": 3000,
        "weight": 365,
        "volume": >>>3<<<,
        "bashing": 10,
        "cutting": 0,
        "to_hit": 1,
        "material": "glass",
        "contains": >>>12<<<,
        "flags": ["RIGID", "SEALS", "WATERTIGHT"]
    },
Changing either to 6 seems fair. I'm guessing the person who added this went off the original glass jar (1 volume, two drinks, description says it's half a litre).

It makes me wonder about the canteen and waterskin though. If the jar changes to be 6 volume it's still more space efficient than the canteen. And when you get into sizes the canteen says it's 1.5 liters and it does hold exactly 6 portions of water. Which does make the 3l glass jar into a 3 liter container.

But it still means that if the jar is made into 6 volume it's more space efficient than the 6 volume canteen. I can understand the waterskin being 6 volume since it's bulky and unweildly, and prone to deforming oddly in storage. But the canteen feels pointless when it's just big and bulky and the jar holds twice, even if they have the same 6 volume they take up in your inventory.

I think the canteen needs less volume or the jar needs to be larger than 6. Reducing the capacity of the jar to match makes sense too but... Then it's not exactly a 3 liter container given by the amounts already presented.

How many drinks does the canteen give? Maybe it just isn't giving enough?

Also, the canteen should probably be wearable, like a fanny pack.

The canteen being wearable and still giving just 6 drinks would make a fairly big difference. Since then it gives encumbrance instead of taking up volume.

Let me just double check the capacity real quick and edit this.

Edit: Yup, 6 portions. Exactly half of the 3l glass jar. Which makes it indeed hold 1.5 liters.
