Is there a way to compile the source for windows, in windows?
Download Code::Blocks MinGW package, install it, grab the source from my repo, doubleclick CataclysmWin.cbp, press compile. I use it to do the Windows releases.

I will warn you that the latest source is frequently buggy.

It's generally more of a 'why did that tree punch me in the face?' "Oh, we're adding ents, but they're not done yet so all trees can attack" bugginess than a 'oh my god how did this get here im not good with computer' sort of bugginess.

Build error that I am not sure how to fix exactly. It is saying that icon.res does not exist but it is in the obj/release folder. Everything else compiles fine though >.<

in Build Messages:
Code: [Select]
obj\Release\obj\Release\icon.res||No such file or directory|
in Build Log:
Code: [Select]
mingw32-g++.exe: error: obj\Release\obj\Release\icon.res: No such file or directory

ARGH

Just right click on icon.res in the file browser (left side) and choose 'remove from project'

*snicker* okay, it built :P Got an idea of why icon.res isn't getting moved properly? I edited my above post with the actual errors reported for it

Are you using the latest source from git actually? Because I'm reliably certain I fixed that. It's there because I accidentally added it to the .cbp file when adding some other new files related to the icon.

The version I have on this computer is from the 12th, so not the latest bleeding edge version I guess :P

Whatever you guys did to cars in yesterdays linux version...holy crap.  I haven't found a single gas powered vehicle yet that doesn't summon hundreds of zeds out of the woodwork.  My day went like this:

Oh hey a flatbed truck, little bit of damage but otherwise in good shape, I'll just drive this back home and put a muffler on it and I'll be good to go.

Flatbed truck(post muffler): Ok I'm still calling the dinner bell.  That's ok though, I just found a motorcycle.  Those have a small enough engine to not need a muffler.

Motorcycle: Good god this is even worse!  Now not only am I loud as hell I don't have a 2 ton pickup protecting me!   Oh good a car!  I know for a fact that those are quiet enough to not summon everything in the city.

Car: Auuugh!  They are still spawning everywhere! *Lose control of car after hitting a brute and crash into a pawn shop*

RIP Tamun Trap:  Last seen desperately pedaling a bicycle surrounded by zombies.

P.S. I love it.  A car isn't instant win anymore.  Lv7 mechanics required to fix damaged parts now too.

Great, so the game is practically unplayable now.
After the spawn rate change, vehicle became crucial for survival.
Now that vehicles draw EVEN MORE zeds, vehicles are not equally dangerous as going on foot.
In other words, uhhhh... shit.

So pessimistic.  I'm thinking that the way to go might be parking the car outside of town and using it as a mobile loot dump instead of just driving in wantonly with nobody even noticing.

Haven't tried it yet of course, but it sounds like a reasonable way to go about it.  Not like you can't outrun everything but a fast on foot anyway.

I saw Darkling Wolf post a screenshot of his survivor driving with vision extended up the road. Has that been released in the current version? I just tried escaping a frothing horde and, hilariously, ran over a bunch of traps because I couldn't slow down in time when I saw them. I let the zombies devour me inside of my car. They earned it.
