While we're here, do you want to talk about character builds? Or is that inappropriate for this topic?

I went into a mansion and got a broadsword, paired with a USP 45. and a motorcycle. Went around shooting zombies and chopping them, then jumping back on my bike and riding off. Don't get the whole mansions full of pools, both aquatic and table. Perhaps it's like, a back-up mansion when a guy living in his regular mansion wants to spend the whole day swimming and playing pool. Also, go right ahead, Recherche. I used to prefer a first aid based intelligent guy, but now I mainly go random and work with what I get. More realistic in a way.

Oh hey, just checked and it turns out it's only level 3 needed for roof building.
Mind you, you do need a metric fuckton of nails and 2x4s but still.

I sorta pick random stats, but make sure I always have Fleet-Footed and Fast Healer so that I can usually outrun anything while being able to sleep off just about everything except incapacitated limbs. I put a point each into Melee and Dodge, since I tend to run melee until I find enough firearms to actually stand a chance against the hordes that spawn when you fire the weapons :P

@SSG: good to hear ^_^ That means I only have to read the newbie mechanics book and go deconstruct random fences around town if I can't find enough nails otherwise :D

Digging's a lot like surgery, see -- you grab the sharp thing and then drive the sharp end of the sharp thing in as hard as you can and then stuff goes flying and then stuff falls out and then there's a big hole and you're done. I kinda wish there was more screaming, but rocks don't hurt so I guess it can't be helped.

I try to focus on melee and strength- normally I'd be a smooth talking, perceptive con man, but that doesn't appear to be useful *yet*. So I raise strength and dexterity, and throw a bit of intelligence and perception in if I feel like I'm gonna read. I go with 12 negative skill points (things like asthma and mood swings never bother me much) and only about 8 positive ones (for Android and whatever else catches my eye). Then I level skills like melee and construction.
Also, you need a metric fuckton of nails and 2x4s for everything. XD

@GalenEvil:Well, it'd be construction and also, just set some houses on fire and wait a day or two.
Then, tons of nails and a few 2x4s.

Oh my god fire in this game is so amazingly beautifully perfect in every way.

Indeed. :D
It just takes absurdly long to burn itself out. Which... might be realistic? I dunno.

Have we all set the tutorial room on fire- just once, to see what would happen?

All of us have. I think I'm not alone in trying to cheat a few mininukes (Largest explosive in the game) into existence to help the fire get going.

I thought that was the point? Are you implying that people end the tutorial without setting everything on fire? :-\

Best part is when the tutorial keeps going calmly while the fire rages around you and half your face gets burned off. Yes, thanks for informing me about the way I can use machetes, NOW GET ME SOME WATER OH GOD!

Quick question.
Portal generator with ten uses. I just found one.
What does it do, exactly? I mean, I'd assume it generates portals, but it's only got two uses left, so I don't wanna screw it up.

I forget, can't be anything too horribly exciting, unfortunately. In fact, if I recall correctly those tend to do more harm than good. :-\
