I'd like to see a much wider range of PC personalities. I don't mind a few hyper-surly foul mouthed NPCs, but it'd be nice if there were some more polite fellow survivors. At the moment, I think it's random whether any given thing an NPC will say is surly, but each one's range of text strings could be tied to personality tags. This would help give each NPC a more distinct feel.

"Hello!"
"Oh, good, someone else is alive.  Listen can I ask you a favor?  Can you go into the town that we just escaped from, slip past all the zombies, get my dog, and run back here before you starve or get eaten?"
"Err... sure I guess.  Do you have any supplies that'd help me get this done?"
"Fuck you, you fucking fucksucker!"

Makes you wonder whether the game takes place in New England or Australia.

I've seen enough people 'snap' under high stress, pressure and grief both, that the snaps of profanity seem reasonable to me.  These NPCs are living the world, they've lost almost everything and are in incredibly great danger, they fixated on one thing they want and are unsure they can or certain they can't get; And here's some stranger, first asking to help them, then asking for help.

People under terrible situations have a tendency to make super bad, hostility-trended decisions.  Granted, not everyone's going to use the same language or say the same things, but the 'tone and feel' of the response is going to be similar.

For every trouble under the sun, there is an answer, or there is none.
If there is one, then seek until you find it.
If there is none, then never ever mind it.

Maybe. I know that even if I'd lost everything and all my friends and family had become ravening monsters, two things: one, I wouldn't ask strangers to go on quests for me; and two, I'd be damn careful to stay on the good side of the few other humans left in the world.

Especially that one human in the full powered armor with a battle rifle, driving a heavily modified semi truck covered in spiked plating careening at me at high speed that I really need to convince I'm worth hitting the brake for.

Because...you know, if I see an NPC they are a roadbump until they convince me otherwise.  Would be nice if the game did a special check in regards to NPCs.

Is the player in a car?
If yes am I in the direction the car is traveling?
If yes If car continues traveling at (current speed) will I get hit in 3 turns?
if yes wait one turn.
If car continues traveling at (current speed) will I get hit in 2 turns?
if yes turn hostile
Can I move out of the way?
If yes, move out of the way, then open fire.
If no open fire.

You forgot the ingrained human social habits of submitting as hard as possible to a superior. Because if you're not aggressive, or maybe you're even helpful to them, then they're less likely to exercise their superiority over you.

I know I shouldn't suggest this, but it just seems like that bandodger guy is almost a part of the community now. So why not show how much we 'love' him?

Add to the game an enemy that follows you around when you are hallucinating from shrooms or schizophrenia and keeps saying how the version of the game you are playing is crappy. Make it a real monster, not just a hallucination, so that it can be brutally beaten, burned, shot, run over, gibbed, chopped up and exploded.

What do you say?

He's a glutton for punishment, so I'd say he'd enjoy that suggestion. Do you really want to be permanently reminded of him?
