I survived a brute attack. That was close. There were some traps just outside town, and I kited him into them.

I have just discovered the beauty in carrying around three bear traps with you at all times.

How does rope and pulley systems work? I tried building a palisade gate then a rope and pulley system beside it, like so:

Code: [Select]
..#..
..#..
..+..
..#|.
..#..

When I use the rope and pulley system it says "The gate!" and then does nothing. How do I hook it up to the gate?

I'd see the possible penalties for not-being-seasoned associated with huge bonuses to npcs relationships and possible morale gains from interactions with said npcs, so that as the zombie-butcher gameplay is limited the npc-hugger gameplay opens up.

You'd find yourself on a scale from happily-butcher-zombi'd-children/scares-to-death-normal-peoples to faint-at-the-sight-of-a-dead-squirrel/is-considered-innofensive-and-elicit-protective-behavior-from-stronger-peoples.

But maybe that's a bit too simplistic.

Are the # symbols palisade walls? As long as the pulley is beside a wall touching a gate it should work...

Ah, that would explain it. They are in fact log walls. I'll tear one down and replace it with a palisade.

Thanks!

It needs to have palisades on either side of the gate.
(It works in the code by iterating outwards until it hits a pair of palisade walls, then converting everything between them into either gates or dirt)

I just popped this game open after several months of not playing (any games really, but this one is usually a great source for mechanical inspiration), and noticed a lot has changed.

...there's no longer a safe period in the beginning of the game in towns, is there?

Zombies are spawned at worldgen, if you kill all the zombies in an area they stay dead unless you lure in more but it removes the safe period of an hour and a half.

There's two different spawn modes now.  Default is static spawns.  No safe period but once a zombie is dead it stays dead, so you can clear out sections of town.

Dynamic is the old behavior.

What's the requirement for building a wire gate? I can't build it on empty terrain, pits or on existing wire fences. I assume there's something I need to construct first?

How does one move furniture? I can assure you it does not work how you'd think it would work.

Out of curiosity, is there any way to run Cataclysm on a Mac? My PC is broke and I need my fix.
