A cudgel would be a billion more times effective, roughly.

In the end, my only friends are Knife Spear (who gets a fancy mid-season upgrade into Steel Spear) and Shopping Cart. There is nothing in the game that I can't beat with a healthy application of stabbing and/or running.
Check out some pawn shops and find a Rapier.  Shit's OP.

As I may have mentioned in the *own* thread, I found a rapier in someone's basement, just in time to massacre an approaching horde. Hell yeah. RNG loves me, for once.

Katana's, Nodachi's, and swords in general are OP as well, but Japanese ones are best in my opinion since they are fast.

Rapiers in specific are rather quick, and have a nice block rate.

And, of course, rapiers are what gives Fencing its power.

I begin my big project to do things I never done in CDDA and exploring new features. :"D Starting with the big base building project.
Of course I'll need to get myself a charcoal kiln and charcoal smoker so that I may smoke my meat and store up a large stockpile of it so I don't have to worry about getting enough food everyday. xD

Speaking of which, where can you learn Fencing mid-game?

I was under the impression that you get the advanced weapon styles and martial arts at character creation or not at all.

Depends. Are NPC tutors in yet? It seems like they might be...

I gained Brawling from a book, for sure.

You can use DF's own tilesets (not graphics sets, but the pink-backed font sheets) for ASCII.

Moreover, a slightly overlooked feature is that you can now select a separate font not only for the terrain view, but for the overmap as well.

(and another feature too tiny to mention is that you can reroll random characters faster)

According to the wiki Brawling is automatically learned at Unarmed level 2, however you get there.

I've definitely had an NPC teach me a level of Dodge (from a choice of several other skills) after I did a quest for them, and had the option to ask them to teach me more (they declined) but I dunno if that can include martial arts styles.

So speaking of burning houses down... How do you get a hold of rebars nowadays? I've made them before but for that you need an entire forging setup, n' I wanna make me an early jackhammer to get into a lab.

I think using a jackhammer on a concrete wall should get you some rebars. 8)

This is what happens when we randomly murder people.

You get attacked by a Yandere triangle monster.
