Compared to any gunshot? No, they're silent.
I wouldn't say early game bows are pathetic. The 1st one is, but the 2nd one is manageable.

Also, in reference to the earlier 22LR discussion, a kitted out Marlin is something I've had as my standard weapon on several non-archery games. Tons of ammo for it (enough that you can plink at maximum range at critters to skill up even), relatively quiet for a firearm, and not so weak that it's worthless, once you have enough skill to regularly make headshots. A Marlin only takes 2 headshots to kill most kinds of zombies.

If you're not worried about ammo or sound at all, then yes, 22LR isn't useful.
But then, if you're at the point where you don't have to worry about either of those, you've pretty much beaten the game.

I did actually. Then I learned never to ask NPCs about jabberwock until you're ready to take them down.

Is it possible to kill a whole horde?

It is. It's a little hard to get the last few to spawn though.

All this talk about the skeledogs got me wanting to mod the game. Is there anything like the raw token pages on dfwiki for this?
Just crack open the files in data/JSON, it's all rather self explanatory. If you are really confused the doc folder (which might not be in the actual release version) has some more explanations (though some might be a tad outdated).
Some of the flags aren't quite clear. For instance, what does "diff" do? Can't figure it out. There is no doc folder in the experimentals.

Ok, that means that the doc folder only exists in the github version. (You can read it here if you don't want to have to download it again). The specific files you want to read are JSON_FLAGS and JSON_INFO (just click on them to open them up).

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

The only time I've had a problem with a skeleton dog is when one managed to inflict a bleeding wound that interacted with a bug and resulted in my character imploding and dying of bloodloss in like 7 turns. Are you guys like tanking dex for points or something? Because that's a fairly bad idea. Keep your stats as high as you can possibly manage.

I played a 20 20 20 20 character once for the luls and it was hilariously overpowered. Could basically kill a hulk with my barehands, no sweat. So stats are a pretty big deal, and why they're so hard to permanently increase, I assume.

They're not THAT hard to increase. Mutagens[Even targeted ones] are fairly easy to make once you get past a certain stage and some of their stat bonuses are insane[+7]. And Dex is probably the least useful stat IMO. Int 10+ is required for skill books, Per 10+ is required for not getting murdered by landmines, Str10+ is required for not getting KNIFE SPEAR stuck in everything. Low Dex is only bad early on and is offset by skill and to-hit later in the game.

Fuck it, another Tank Drone. How the hell am I supposed to survive a 120mm gun?

You nope out of there as soon as you see them unless you've got tons of armor, meds, and RPGs.

That would be my reaction anyways, and I've never come across one.

It's basically impossible to nope away from anything with guns.

Unless you can immediately break line of sight, yeah tank drones are death.

Are tank drones faster than the player? (very OP if so)
If not, then there's no good reason you can't break the LoS the same way it was established.
Not saying it's an easy fix, but it's easier than death.

If you see certain death, and do anything other than turn and run, then well, you shouldn't be surprised at what comes next.

We seriously need riot shields in this game.
