Also, if you get at 4 encumbrance with shirt+trenchcoat+backpack, it means your clothes aren't fitted. So you have to imagine that your shirt is a bit too tight, restricting your movement, while your trenchcoat's sleeves are too long and get stuck in all kind of places, etc etc.

I, too, have used a bow before. Unfortunately, mine arms are noodle arms, so the arrows went about five metres.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Bluh. Why is most ranged combat so useless? With archery, I might as well be throwing the arrows at them. Guns might be more useful, but with rare ammo, if it takes even one or two shots to kill a zombie, its not sustainable. Just lost my fifth archer character in a row.

Actually, Archery is useless because it used to be the be-all, end-all of all weapon styles - essentially silent, ranged, with recoverable ammo, and pretty strong to boot.

And guns requiring more than one shot to kill is actually pretty realistic too - if we're talking IMMEDIATE elimination, you'd sometimes need two-three shots, and unlike zombies, humans are affected by pain and hydrodynamic shock.

We are doomed. It's just that whatever is going to kill us all just happens to be, from a scientific standpoint, pretty frickin' awesome.

Also, some ammos are pretty plentiful. The 9mm used to be all over the place from dead turrets, dunno if it's still the case.

I found 800 rounds of .22 in a gun store once. It's a shame, because .22 is so useless that it takes about 800 rounds to kill anything.

Well, it's not that bad. I used to have a Marlin39A as a standard firearm at some point, and you only really need stronger guns for armoured enemies. Even then, can't you turn it into .22 FMJ?

If it comes to it, you can completely fabricate everything for paper cartridges except the plain paper, IIRC. Takes a minute to get to that point, but flintlock rifles were actually pretty good all around last I had one.

Breaking into a military bunker is almost guaranteed to net you several hundred rounds of 9mm, along with a few score of 7.62mm.

Assuming you have the military cards to do it, of course.

Or a jackhammer. Or a sonic wave projector CBM.

So, does anyone know what does a plutonium generator do?

Can't vouch for it, but I would guess that it generates electrical energy from plutonium.
Install on a welding rig.

So this game supports Joysticks and Joypads now? Not sure I could play the game with just a joystick.

Thus far the consensus I'm getting on archery is that the high-end arrows and bows are decent/awesome, but the early weapons are pathetic. Didn't know shooting arrows at the wall trained archery. I suppose that the obvious thing to do is have my archery character rely on KNIFE SPEAR until I find a composite bow or one of the two crafting books. Not actually sure that bows should be silent. Don't they go TWANG/THRUM or something like that?

If you pull them back far then it can make a sound, but it's generally pretty quiet if you're not going for too much force.
