There's a useful trick - activate a glowstick or a lightstrip, throw it at the turret so you can see the turret but it can't see you. Now you can pick it off at your leisure.

Playing a modded kid who starts with a pot helmet, two-by-sword, and handheld game system, I set up camp in an abandoned shop and shot zombies with loads of bullets.

I forgot I was holding a rocket launcher when I shot him.

Hmmm.

I'm using the Windows Terminal version, latest experimental (1424 or so), but it doesn't seem to work.  It opens up a window, but the Cataclysm title screen doesn't pop up, and it closes after a bit.  1422 does the same thing, too.

I have an install of presumably the stable and 1298 (both tiles and curses), all of which start, but these latest ones seem to not like me.

All separate folders, of course.

I see that "mapsharing" is a new cpp file in one of the recent experimentals versions. What're we looking forward to?

They're working the kinks out for shared-map online servers.

Before you get too excited, we still don't have a solution for having players ever actually meet.
Mostly it's focusing on having the game work properly with dgamelaunch.
As a pleasant side effect, we have better support for linux packaging.

Hey, that would be an idea. Instead of making them actual player players, borrow other player's current positions to drop some static NPCs.

You could have it act like Dungeon Crawl:Stone Soup where it's more of an IRC channel than multiplayer. Let players look in on other players games when they connect to the server, in game chat and questions, etc.

multiplayer combat in cataclysm would be fucking amazing though.

you know what i have in mind? if respawn was somehow available, you'd have a core of experienced players (as in skill levels) and a bunch of essentially suicide bombers who learn a bunch of driving from the veterans, take their super-reinforced rocket shopping carts (essentially a big fucking brick of reinforcement with a bit of fuel and a strong engine) and fire themselves at the enemy stronghold in order to cause a breach which the veterans fill with bulletspam or just dump ooze in or something

if you don't find rocket shopping cart kamikazes awesome then get out of my face
