In my experience, shocker zombies are pretty inaccurate. I've been paralyzed too few times to notice, or was so drugged up on adderall that it wore off before the hordes could catch me.

I have learned a valuable lesson about engines.   Mainly don't keep them running while you sleep.

I recently attached an engine and an alternator to my solar farm after that week of nonstop lightning storm made me realize I might need a backup power source.  So I ploped a gas tank down on it, a spare engine, and loaded it up with a couple 2 liter canteens full of gas from my Dead Reckoning, cracked her up and let it run overnight.

I woke up a few hours later apparently using my 10 melee and bashing skill to block a (zom)bear with my quarterstaff while I was asleep. (fortunately that woke me up)  I beat the bear 12 ways to sunday, and turned on my flashlight.  All the windows were smashed, the majority of the crafting car that the engine was attached to is smashed up, and the Dead Reckoning parked nearby had a wheel shredded and some windshields broken.

But outside was 4 zombie dogs and 3 zombears, milling about in the solar farm, no doubt wishing they could smash that up too.  The dogs and bears were destroyed, naturally.  But it's a valuable lesson to turn all noisy things off before bed.

Do npc turrets require ammo?

Never, ever start a fire inside a building unless it's contained in a Brazier, Wood Stove, or Stone Fireplace.

Also ovens. They don't contain the smoke, but you can safely build a fire inside of them.

what, draggable fires :?
awesome.  I wonder if zoms will try to beat the oven?

I have got to stop attaching truck engines to ultralight motorcycles. Built one that had a top speed of over 500mph, and the engine was loud enough to cause deafness. I was going a quarter of that when I skidded and ran over an oppossum. Half the bike disintegrated, I was thrown about ten tiles away, and, despite wearing a reinforced survivor mask, my head HP was reduced to a single \ from full. Funfun.

During a raid in which I grabbed a geiger counter from a pawn shop(...is that something you can get in a RL pawn shop?), I scanned myself and found I had a single point of radiation. I'm pretty sure I passed by a radio tower on my way in. But I think I picked up some plutonium cells as well, so I'm not sure.
Will probably be avoiding radio towers for now then (just in case). Thank you.
As it turns out, I was carrying an atomic nightlight at the time, which I think gives you a constant, but fairly harmless, radiation dose.

V8 motorcycles are the true survival vehicles. Just make sure to replace the saddle with a seat (so you don't fly off all the time) and add copious plating, and you'll be fit as a fiddle while appreciating highway wildlife. That's cool that engines can cause deafness though, I haven't played the latest version. Does a muffler do anything?

Both the atomic nightlight and the atomic coffeepot can leak radiation if they've been damaged, but in their undamaged state they're both non-radioactive.

Yes, it makes engines much less noisy. Also, you can find earplugs or make noise-cancelling headgear to avoid being deafened by loud noises.

Is going deaf irreversible?

Hell, regardless, it'd be interesting having to keep all noise regardless down due to being unable to hear a slight bit.

Maybe a very 'good' disadvantage? It'd open a new realm of game style hehe.

Ok this was a bad idea,

but 46 liters of displacement from 3 V 12 engines pushing a 700kg frame just had to be done.

if im faster that the speed of sound do i still need noise-cancelling headgear to avoid being deafened?

...test it. Make the testing happen. Berate every single dev for not implementing that as literally the first feature of DDA if it's not there.

Shit, this is precisely the reason why you should be able to select displacement for the engines you get via the debug menu. Three 30 liter v12s on a motorcycle.
