Yes, let's not vote during RP sessions. If it seems close, I usually just wing it and it has turned out alright thus far. Sorry for the boring several pages. Carrying on.
You sit back in your chair, swirling your wine for a moment before downing the glass. You start your response by recalling the Battle of Torchester and your shared service, and stating that you are not unfamiliar with risking your life for a just cause.
Sir Lope seems to be lapping this up, nodding his head in agreement. You continue to explain that you were not the fondest of the Count, but that you had seemed to be moving in a better direction with your relationship towards the end of his life. Disarmingly, you admit that if the rumors about Owen's role in Count Foles' death are true, then he would be a danger to all of his vassals.
This seems to strike a chord with the grizzled old knight, who mumbles something about Owen "getting rid of all the old guard." Here is where you pivot, saying that you are merely a knight, who does not have the means to press the claim yourself, nor protect young Arthur in the long run. Lope gives you a keen look, as you offer your support in the endeavor, should he wish to press the matter.
Sir Lope stares into the small fire that is crackling, then downs his own glass and stands up. "I do intend to press the matter, Sir Stone. I rode here because I feel that the longer we wait, the more ensconced the cur Owen becomes. He believes me to be leading a reconnaissance sortie in your lands. He does not realize how precarious his position is among the court and the people. The only ones that are truly loyal to him are his personal guard and his wife..."
He offers you a hand up, which you heartily take. "Send for the boy, wherever he is, and gather your best men. We march on Owen as soon as young Arthur arrives."
Nice set of rolls, there.
