Give permission for Silverhills to build a small Palisade and to have small station of militia station there.

Have our veteran retinue train our new retinue members in our usual skirmishing tactics, Finn is to instruct our peasant levies to bring shovels and wooden spikes on campaign and to train them in deploying cavalry traps, Dent should lay in a store of grain and smoked meat for a possible seige.

Let's also discuss military tactics with Luther and give him some responsibilities managing the levy under Finn.

That being said, if some brave soul feels like drawing a map of the town (as Gerv did with the region many pages ago), I would be rather interested to see what you come up with. However, don't expect it to be taken as canon, and remember that I'd rather fudge a few details if it makes things more narratively interesting.

Okay. Try this.

Spoiler: Town and Walls (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Town Close-up (click to show/hide)

The dimensions are fairly accurate concerning how much space we planned inside the walls, and how big a town of 400 people would be at the moment, but most things are obviously not to scale. Just representations.

I like the drawings. :) Did you just do those in paint or ?

Dig a few cellars, which we will fill with ice when the river freezes
I really like this idea. Refrigerated cellars? Cool, not common, but entirely plausible!

9001 hours in Inkscape.   :D

It's vector graphics and, unlike Paint, can be easily altered. Let me know objections.

Very cool drawings, and roughly what I had imagined.

Sorry for the lack of update today. I got slammed with a huge work project that will eat up my weekend, plus have family in town. So hopefully will be able to update early next week.

One thing that you all can discuss while I work away... where do you want your manor to be? We never really nailed that down. Is it inside the city walls? Outside?

It was definitely outside the Palisade, in my mind, but we never really established how far away it was. Not too far, but it could be set off a bit if you'd like, or it could be inside the new stone walls.

Since we haven't established this yet, I'll let you all decide via... suggestion.

i thought our 'tower' was more like a small keep?

and i'd personally like our manor to be inside the stone walls.

Put our manor inside the walls.

IIRC our tower has/will have an armory, food storage, and fortified entrance. So it can be used as a keep, if it ever comes to that.

Hi! I found this thread while googling something regarding dungeons and dragons (I can't remember what for the life of me, I saw this and got entirely distracted for a few days). I just read through everything, and decided to register in the forum just to post in this thread. So, I was thinking, why not send Luther to oversee Silverhills, with a small contingent of guards? They get some protection, and he gets some much-needed experience. It's a win-win, so far as I can see. In fact, once the new "count" is dealt with, and there's some peace for once, we can take back the guards, have him try to work a village up as our vassal. It worked out well for us, so why not him?

In any way that will make it so that we no longer have to worry about him attacking/working some other mischief on our lands.

Not to mention that we have little actual reason and NO official reason to suspect anything of him.

I'm not advocating attacking him. I'm advocating sending Luther over to defend Silverhills. I simply made mention of possibly retaking the guards that we would send with him (to see how well he will handle the situation without them) if and when we find a way to make peace/get rid of "Count" Owen, and it won't put our people in too much danger.
