Fold Alan's arms over his sword on his chest, close his eyes, kneel and say a prayer for his soul with your own sword as a cross. Then, after a moment's pause, seek out the King and Erran, and give them joy of the victory.

what a soddingly bad role. Losing Alan is a huge negative. He was a good Squire. I knew things were going too well.

Do what Garv suggested. After conversing with the King and Duke, go and try to check on our men before anything else. take stock of casualties. Congratulate the survivors. Finally, find the damaged parts of our armour, attach them to the pack on our horse and lead our men home.

I was hoping we could recommend him to the king for his valour here. Now he's dead! I admit I was a bit crushed. Been a part of the thread since page 4 or so.

I think we should have told him to hang back. But then again, we might have been the one to end up dead then.

The least we can do is honour him some way. I cant think of a fitting option at the moment. he couldn't be knighted posthumously, could he?

We kept our promise. He died a warrior. When we return do a posthumious knighting at his funeral. He will forever be the knight of Feroshire remembered at the battle of (places name). Let's create a small granite mauseleum for him. and bury him in a set of armor.

Begin scouring the land for a new squire and knight leader. We may find one among our own ranks.

I look forward to telling Duke erran about his great niece or nephew while we great him in bloodstained armor. (although chances are the invaders will simply leave when a relief force presents itself)

Also this after we congratulate the King and Duke.

a bit off topic but i want to know who sent the raiders we've just defeated.

because thats what they seemed like.

But to come in such numbers, and target a large, well defended city.....a foreign country must be behind it.

I suspect this universes version of France!.

Might have been Spain, because I'm pretty sure France never invaded Britain. (Barring the first time, of course)

you are quite correct, however the French were never against paying others to.

Especially the Scottish.

Also, since we killed so many foes, I'm sure there are tons of empty longboats on the shoreline now. Grab as many of those as we can crew on our return home. Try to get a few bigger ones allowing sixty or more, also, with vicious looking dragon prows! Use as few men to crew each as possible, or even pay some locals to sail them upriver. A few men can drive our horses back in a herd, though we can take our destrier on one of the larger boats.

Gather what plunder we can from enemy bodies, even if only their iron weapons. As William Marshall found out, knights who thought nothing of reward after the battle were soon impoverished. Grab a few impressively barbaric-looking standards of theirs to display in our hall. They have a baggage camp aorund here with loot from their raids, and food which may help the refugees whose harvests were interrupted.

A general sense of how costly the victory was would also be interesting. We started with 8000 men.

True, and the French did try directly a few times. For example, Louis, the son of Phillip Augustus, was up to some shenanigans in England around 1215, even being proclaimed king in London at one point.

Of course, given that these are pretty much Viking expys, it doesn't mean the didn't just send a large force to our land for loot and plunder by themselves....

I generally agree with the above, and ask if we can have Alan knighted posthumously, as well as finding other ways to honor the fallen. Also, yeah we need to gather up as much loot as we can cart off in any ships we can aquire.

Can we have an after battle RP with the Duke, and King, mal?

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

I concur with the post-battle RP. Much needed. Do not interrupt them though, require audience in due time.
Having our squire posthumously knighted, if only for saving our life at least once, is something we can ask (he was going to be knighted sooner or later anyway).
We'll need to check up on our troops and plunder what we can, too.
