We should focus on our shieldwork as we joust, to prevent "accidental" slips of the lance.

The goal is to weather a few passes of the lance for honor's sake, not win.

I am not going in with only my faith as a shield. I thought about it and decided to go for it even without the metagaming.

Also the goal (of the game) is to break the most lances, not to make the opponent fall. There is securities on the lances to prevent them from entering the helmet.
If there is indeed the middle barrier, this is "modern" jousting, where the risks are far lower than in earlier, all-out jousting.

what I've gathered thusfar is.

a )its cool.
b )glooorryyy.
c )we might lose face if we backout.

d) It's our duty.

This is real knighthood. Running a fief efficiently is grand, but feudalism was ultimately about giving one warrior enough support to equip himself as an armored horseman. "Chivalry" is a real concept, and we will be seen as either a knight or a baseborn from our actions here. If we brave the lists, then we're a true knight, whatever the outcome.

Poor Lancer <== Not Epic, good or even average
